Hinds County Gazette circa 1899


THE BALL           

  A grand ball was given at the court house on Thursday the 4th which was 
attended by the following ladies and gentlemen:  Misses Smith, Parkman, 
Stella, and Cade Gillespie, and Messerrs Gaddis, Pepper Clark, and Lacy of 
Bolton.
   Missrs Whitfield, Archer Sorsby and Messrs. Brough, Cambell, and Menger, of 
Clinton.  Misses Downing, Neal, Peyton, Summers’ Pope, Sims, Baker, Marion and 
Maggie Harper and Messrs Brent, Peyton, Casper, Neal, Coor, Ratliff, 
Beresford, O’Callahan, Johnson and McMannus of Raymond.  Mr. M. Chilton of 
Mayersville.  Chaperones, Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Downing, Mrs. J.  W. Peyton, Mr. 
and Mrs. J. White, Mrs. C.B. Gillespie, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Bogle, Mr. and Mrs. 
Will Brent and Mr. and Mrs. Patton.  Mr. W.S. Neal, Mr. Geo. Heard and Mrs. W. 
H. Sims.  Music was rendered by the Bolton string band and refreshments were 
furnished by the ladies of the town.
