Herring The announcement yesterday morning of the death at the Sanatorium in Jackson of Mr. R.F. Herring, Deputy Sheriff, and manager of the office at Raymond, was a great shock, saddening the hearts of all who knew him. He had not been sick long, succumbing after an operation for appendicitis, which was complicated with peritonitis. Mr. Robert Herring was a splendid gentleman, a patriotic, progressive citizen, a faithful and consciencious officer. He was a man of affairs, being interested with his brothers in large farming operations. He was held in very high esteem by all who knew him—especially loved by the people of Raymond. Only a few months ago he laid to rest his wife of less than two years. A beautiful little baby daughter is left behind, who will never know a father and mother’s love. He also leaves a widowed mother, a brother, Mr. Will Herring, and two sisters, Mrs. Will S. Wells and Miss Maude Herring. There are many other relatives, who, with host of friends, will mourn his departure. To the bereaved ones we extend our sincere sympathy. The funeral was held at his mother’s home in the country, where he was laid to rest in the family grave yard, surrounded by a great crowd of interested friends from many parts of the county. Dr. King of Jackson conducted the funeral services. His mound was literally deluged with beautiful flowers. Additional Comments: Tombstone: Robert Fairchild Son of S.L. & S.Y.
