Hinds County Gazette 

Col., John A. Ragan, for, many years
a citizen of this part of the county,
died suddenly at this residence 2 1/2 
miles from Raymond, on Saturday 
morning last.  Col. Ragan was a man
of much intelligence and couture, but
was very retiring and domestic in his
habits and life.  When a young man,
he practiced law in Louisiana, and
was for some time a member of the
Legislature of that State.
