Edmund Richardson at Jackson, Miss., is announced. Mr. Richardson long enjoyed the reputation of being the world's greatest cotton planter, and he was perhaps the South's richest man. His cotton plantations, 19 in number, contain about 50,000 acres, and his estate is estimated to be worth between $10,000,000 and $15,000,000. Mr. Richardson was very well known in business circles and to the leading cotton planters of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana. He was President of the World's Fair at New Orleans last winter.
