Hinds County Gazette

GORDON GOODLOE SIMS died at his
residence  near Ezra, in Leflore county,
this state, on the 18th inst., of  pneumonia,
after a brief illness, in the 55th
year of his age.  Mr. Sims was a son
of Benj. G. and Mrs. Virginia Sims, and
only brother of Mrs. Geo. W. Harper of
this place.  He was born about three
and a half miles from Raymond, and
continued to reside in this county, at
the home of his mother, near Clinton,
until about twenty years ago, when he
removed with his family to the Yazoo
Delta.  He was educated at Clinton
College, was a modest and retiring citizen,
but ever faithful and just in all the
relations of life.  About 1868, he was
married to Miss Fannie Poindexter,
who,  together with two  children,
survive him.
