THOMAS DEAD. Col. Sam B. Thomas died at his home at Terry last Thursday morning, having succumbed to a stroke of paralyses. This was sad news to all who knew Col. Thomas for he was held in the highest esteem. He was a hero of the Mexican and Confederate wars and a brave soldier never shouldered a musket. He was one of Hinds County’s greatest citizens; he was sheriff a number of years, and also treasurer. His devotion to duty and his many generous and manly qualities endeared him to the hearts of his countrymen firmly and forever. He passed away peacefully at the age of eighty-two.
