DEED - Archibald Cockerell Snr To Archibald Cockerell Jnr Submitted & transcribed by Lori Thornton Itawamba County, Mississippi Deed Record 5 (1844-47), pp. 117-118 Archibald Cockerell Snr To Archibald Cockerell Jnr The State of Mississippi} Know all men by these Itawamba County} presents that I Archibald Cockerell Signior for and in consideration of Two Hundred Twenty one Dollars & fifty cents to me in hand paid the new pt? whereof is hereby acknowledged have this day bargained sold and by these presents do bargain sell and deliver unto Archibald Cockerell Junior the following property (viz.) one Horse and six thousand pounds of seed cotton, one cow & two Earlings, Fifty bushels of corn & three stacks of Fodder, Fifteen head of hogs, nine heads of Geese, one bed & furniture, Seven head of sheep, all my plantation tools including axes (1 waggon) to have and to hold the same to the only proper use of him the said Archibald Cockerell Junior and his heirs and assigns forever and I the said Archibald Cockerell Signior will forever warrant & defends the right to the above described property against me the said Archibald Cockerell Signr my heirs and assigns and against the claim or claims of every person or persons whatever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto affixed my hand and seal the 14th day of January 1845. N13 Seven head of sheep} (and one waggon) entered} Archibald Cockerell Snr [seal] before signed.} The State of Mississippi} Before me Joseph G. Conwill Itawamba County} acting Justice of the Peace in and for said county personally appeared Archibald Cockerell Signor who acknowledged that he signed sealed and delivered the above deeds to Archibald Cockerell Junior as his act and due for the uses and purposes therein contained. Thomas clerk of the Probate court for said county do certify that the within & foregoing Deeds was on the 6th day of June 1845 filed in my office for Record and that the same together with the certificate given have been duly recorded in Deed Record Book No. 5 & page 117 & 118.
