Duke To Archibald Cockerell Deed to Land This Indenture made and entered into this the Fifth day of September AD 1848 between Wm. H. Duke & Sina Duke his wife of the first part and Archibald Cockerell of the second part. Witness that the said Wm. H. Duke & Sina Duke his wife for and in consideration of the sume of one Hundred and Seventy Five Dollars to them in hand paid by the party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have this day granted bargained & sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto him the said party of the second part a certain tract or parcel of Land known and designated as the North East quarter of section Twenty Nine Town Eleven of Range Eight East (NE qu S29 T11 R8E) the right and title whereof the said parties of the first part warrant and will forever defend against the claim or claims of all claimants. In witness whereof the said party of the first part sign seal & deliver this Deed the date & day above written. Wm. H. Duke [seal] Sina Duke [seal] The State of Mississippi} Pontotoc County} Personally appeared before me Wm Spencer Judge of the Probate Court of said county the within named Wm. H. Duke & Sina Duke his wife who severally acknowledged that they signed sealed and delivered the foregoing Deed as their act for the purposes therein contained on the day & Bear of its date. Sina Duke wife of Wm. H. Duke on a private examination by me separate and apart from her said husband acknowledged that she signed sealed & delivered the foregoing Deed freely and voluntarily without any fear threats or compulsion of her said husband. Given under my hand & seal 5th September AD 1848. Wm. Spencer Judge of Probate The State of Mississippi} Itawamba County} I Edwin G. Thomas clerk of the Probate court of said county do hereby certify that the above Deed was on the 9th of October 1848 filed in my office for record and that the same together with the certificate has been duly recorded in Deed Record Book No. 6 Page 551.
