DEED - State of Mississippi to G. A. Hester Transcribed and submitted by Lori Thornton Itawamba County, Mississippi Deed Record 21, p. 758 The State of Mississippi (To Deed) G. A. Hester State of Mississippi} This Indenture witnesseth that G. A. Itawamba County} Hester of the County of Itawamba & State of Mississippi hath this day paid to the undersigned Clerk of the circuit court of the County and State aforesaid the Sum of Four Dollars & 69/100 Dollars which is the amount of taxes due & unfiled with six per cent thereon on the following described Land to wit -- East half of the South East quarter 1/4 of Section Twenty Three Township Seven (7) of Range Seven (7) which Lands were declared forfeited to or purchased by the State of Mississippi for the nonpayment of taxes for the year 1871. Now know all men that the State of Mississippi for & in consideration of the above payment hath conveyed any due by these presents convey and quit-calim to the said G. A. Hester all right and title to the said land free from the claims of all persons whomsoever claiming by or through said State. Witness my hand and seal of office this the 7th day of Novementer A.D. 1871. J. W. C. Cates circuit clerk who acknowledged that he executed signed sealed and delivered the above Deed on the day and year aforesaid for the purposes therein mentioned as his act & Deed.
