T. Smith, 75, of George County, died March 1, 2008. J. T. was a former resident of Moss Point. He was born on Oct. 28, 1932, in Neshoba County. He coached baseball in Moss Point for 25 years, he was also a 32nd Degree Mason and a deacon at Heritage Baptist Church in George County. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Smith; a son, Bobby Wayne Smith; parents, Jay and Grace Smith, of Beatline, Miss.; a sister, Lorene Smith; and one great- granddaughter, Hayleigh Harrell-Suthoff. Graveside service: Beatline Baptist Church Cemetery, Neshoba County, MS. Mr. Richard Angelo Stallworth (Pruteen), 51, of Gautier, died March 1, 2008. He was born on Aug. 26, 1956, to Mr. David Stallworth and Mattie Marie Richardson Stallworth. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. David Stallworth; his grandparents, Mr. George Stallworth and Mrs. Dorvie Stallworth, Mr. Allen F. Richardson and Mrs. Mattie Hall Richardson; and a nephew, Baby Leonard Thomas Stallworth. Burial at First Baptist Cemetery in Escatawpa, Miss. Mar 2 Mr. Roosevelt (R. T.) Timothy Nicholson, born July 12, 1932, in Repton, AL, died March 2, 2008, in Three Rivers, Miss. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Viola Jones Nicholson; daughter, Sonya Martin; two brothers, Moses and Bishop Nicholson; and three sisters, Susie Jones, Lucille Biggs and Christine Reddix. Interment: Davis Chapel Cemetery. Lowell Willmon, Sr. of Ocean Springs died on March 2, 2008. He was born July 18, 1928 in King, AR. He served his country faithfully for twenty-four years in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty- four years, Nathalie Gill Willmon, parents, Buck and Daisy Willmon; and siblings Tompie Allen, Lois Moore Thomas, Hershel Willmon, Willard Willmon and Florence Willmon. Mrs. Melba Griffith Buchanan, 89, died March 3, 2008. Born Jan. 13, 1919, in Kentwood, La., Mrs. Buchanan was the daughter of Chester Arthur and Luena (Hogan) Griffith. Mrs. Buchanan married Willard Lucian Buchanan of the Dixie Community, where they lived until his death in 1976. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Buchanan was preceded in death by her three brothers, Aubrey, James and Walton Griffith, and one sister, Eunice Marie Griffith Rutland. Mar 4 Darryl Wayne Broadus, 46, of Pascagoula, died March 4, 2008. He was born May 28, 1961, in Metairie, LA. Mrs. Esther Gladys Cooley Riley, age 95, of Wade, died March 6, 2008. Mrs. Riley was born March 7, 1912, in Waynesboro, Miss., and was of the Pentecostal faith. Mar 7 Wade Dyer Cook of Coupeville, Wash., died March 7, 2008, in Pascagoula. Mr. Cook, the only son of Wade Milton and Willy Elizabeth Dyer Cook, was born Dec. 29, 1928, in Jacksonville, TX. Entombment services: Lake Lawn Cemetery, Metairie, La. Mr. Tony Joe McBeath, of Moss Point, died March 7, 2008. He was a graduate of Moss Point High School, Class of 1982. Tony was preceded in death by his father, Ollie Ray McBeath; grandparents, Melton and Jessie L. McBeath and uncle, Ollie Jay McBeath. Interment: Scranton Cemetery. Mar 8 Charles Hubert Parks died on March 8, 2008. Only 19 days before his 90th birthday. He was born in Manchester, Ohio, on March 27, 1918, the fourth son of William James Parks and Minnie Martha Foster Parks. He was sent to Camp Shelby, Miss., in Oct. 1940, by the Ohio 37th Infantry Div. Co. E. Because he had a history of swimming across the Ohio River, he was chosen to transfer to the Army Recreation Cadre in Pascagoula (where the Pascagoula Beach Park is now located) in July 1941. He was an expert rifleman and served as a Military Police, a lifeguard, and a carpenter-building a pavilion at the end of the Pascagoula Pier, from which they searched for German submarines and enemy aircraft of WWII. In 1943, he transferred to another unit in Georgia, to be shipped to Europe on the Queen Elizabeth. In the 9th Army Air Corps, he was sent to Scotland, England, Wales, Omaha Beach, France, Belgium and Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents, William James and Minnie Parks; three brothers, Ralph Irwin Parks, Bernice Leon Parks, Phillup Fulton Parks; one nephew, Jerry Clyde Parks, all of Ohio. Interment: Jackson County Memorial Park with military honors provided by The American Legion. Monsignor James Joseph Hannon died March 16, 2008, in Ocean Springs; born in Galway County, Ireland on Jan. 13, 1920, to Patrick and Mary Hannon and was the youngest of five children. He entered St. Jariath College, Tuam, Galway, in 1933. After graduation in 1939, he attended St. Patrick College, Carlow, until he was ordained for the Mississippi Diocese in June 1945. Monsignor had many assignments throughout Mississippi. He retired from his last Parish, St. Alphonsus in Ocean Springs in 1989. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent "Visco" Kuluz; her parents, Peter and Annie Pavlov; her sisters, Danica (Grego) Garbin and Frances "Flossie" Touchet; her brothers, George (Cecile) Pavlov and Frank (Hilda) Pavlov; grandchild, Matthew Kuluz Jr.; great-grandchildren, Patrick Matthew, Claire Olivia and Caitlin Elizabeth Coon; a son-in-law, James H. Born September 2, 1927, in New Orleans, LA, daughter of the late Seymour Slade and Anna "Big Momma" Booker Slade Williams. Lolli grew up in Vancleave, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Glimm. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Burial: Southern Memorial Cemetery, Biloxi. Martha G. "Dolly" Mentzer, 82, of Ocean Springs, died March 19, 2008. Mrs. Mentzer was a former resident of Rockville, Md. She was preceded in death by a son, PFC Robert E. Mentzer Jr., USMC. A memorial service at the Funeral Home. Lt. Col. Arthur C.Micheline, 83, retired from the U.S. Air Force, died March 19, 2008. He was born in Hillsboro, Ill., March 6, 1925. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps at the age of 17. He served in the Air Force for 23 years and his duty stations included Panama, Germany, France and numerous Air Force bases throughout the United States. He was stationed twice at Keesler Air Force Base in MS. Preceding him in death was his brother, Mike Michelini, and his sisters, Pauline Berman, Irene Thomas, Mary Wentland and Lena Winchesky, all of Illinois. Also preceding him were his daughter-in-law, Katherine Michelini, and his grandson, Daniel Michelini. Interment: Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, Miss. Mr. Frederick Waltman, age 64, of Ocean Springs, died March 19, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Annie Bell Waltman, and three brothers, Frank S. Mar 20 Ray Anthony "Tony" Graham, 48, of Moss Point, died March 20, 2008, at the Pascagoula Singing River Hospital, following an industrial accident at Northrop Shipyard, on March 12th. Born on July 15, 1959 in New Orleans, La., to the late Edward Ray and Joy Vernice Graham. He was in the Army National Guard (890 Company B) for 14-years. Entombment: The Good Shepherd Mausoleum of Serene Memorial Gardens with military honors. Mr. Norman Franklin Raines, 85, of Helena, died March 20, 2008. Mr. Raines was born June 17, 1922, in Waynesboro, Miss. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Elvie and Octavia Raines; his beloved first wife, Mamie Mae Raines; his second wife, Mattie Raines; his daughter, Norma Mae Hale; his son, Donald Raines; and his sister, Nora Wozencraft. Interment: Machpelah Cemetery. Mar 21 Georgia Mae (Piagentini) Major, 68, of Moss Point, died March 21, 2008, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in San Angelo, TX. She was born July 9, 1939, in Oakland, Calif. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Watson H. Major; parents, John and Rita (Bulman) Piagentini; and great grandsons, Wyatt and Zacri Griffin. A private family ceremony will be held in Jackson County, MS. Thomas Edward Stokley, 66, of Escatawpa, died March 21, 2008; born on Sept. 12, 1944, in Silas, AL. Mr. Stokley was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Womble Stokley; his loving father, Horace Stokley; a loving mother, Abbie Parker; and a wonderful brother, Vince Stokley. Burial: Machpelah Cemetery. Mar 22 Mr. Raymond Frank James, 75, of Moss Point., died March 22, 2008; born Oct. 13, 1932, in Biloxi. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores James; parents, William and Agnes James; daughter, June Marie Weaver; son, Bobby Bangs; three brothers, Elroy A. James, Robert L. James and Samuel E. James; three sisters, Blanch Kitchen, Helen J. Herrington and Lois M. Miller. Graveside services: with military honors at The Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi. Mr. Anthony Sauk, age 75, of Pascagoula, died March 22, 2008. Tony was born June 14, 1932, in Shendoah, Pa., to the late Paul and Anna Sauk. He lived at the Milton Hershey home for boys from the first grade through the eighth grade in Hershey, Pa. Tony enlisted in the United States Navy serving six years. Mr. Sauk was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ed Sauk and a sister, Leona Simmons. As Tony requested, his ashes will be scattered at sea by the United States Navy. Anne Lorna Ellis Maghan, 100, of Shadyside, Md., formerly of Deerwood, Minn., and Gautier, died March 22, 2008. Born Oct. 28, 1907, in Brainerd, Minn., Lorna was the daughter of the late Jesse Lee and Lottie Mae Barkey Ellis. With 66 years of marriage, she was the police officer widow of George Glendon Maghan, Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C. At 14 years old, Lorna's innately strong character and faith was greatly influenced by the loss of her father in a fatal accident at his job with the Northern Pacific Railroad. Mrs. Norma Jean McClantoc McCormack, age 61, of Moss Point, died March 23, 2008 She was born Jan. 18, 1947, in Mobile, AL. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jennie Mae McClantoc; three sisters and one brother. Interment: Orange Grove Cemetery, Moss Point. (Orange Grove Community) Francis Keith Scott, 78, of Lucedale, died March 23, 2008. Born in Lumberton, Miss., he was the son of the late Floyd E. Scott Sr. and the late Alice Virginia (Williamson) Scott. Mr. Scott married Laverne Howell on April 4, 1959, in Mobile, Ala. He served his country during the Korean War in the Navy from 1948 to 1952. He served his community as a Methodist minister and was a member of the Refuge United Methodist Church. Interment: Refuge Methodist Church Cemetery, Lucedale. Mar 24 Mrs. Margaret Myrtle Heiter, age 77 of Gautier, died March 24, 2008 in Houston, TX.; she was born October 23, 1930 in Pascagoula. She was preceded in death by her parents John L. and Emma G. Mar 25 Mary Virginia Clark, age 76, Benndale, MS, and a resident of Hurley, MS, died March 25, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Bernice Mizell. Burial: Machpelah Cemetery, Pascagoula. Helon Breazeale Koch, 91, died in Ridgeland, MS, on March 25, 2008; born Jan. 5, 1917, in Kosciusko, MS, to Louvie Barbra O'Briant and Milton Leroy Breazeale. Mrs. Koch raised their daughter and helped her husband in their downtown drugstore, The Palace Pharmacy. Upon Mr. Koch's retirement, they moved to their country home, Huckleberry Hill, "in the woods" in Vancleave, She is preceded in death by her husband Claiborne Netto Koch (1992); sister, Mrs. Frank Oliver (Hazel) of Clinton, Miss.; and brother, Mr. Lloyd Breazeale of Scottsdale, Ariz. Interment: Machpelah Cemetery. Betty L. Murphy Morris, 75, of Lucedale, formerly of Pascagoula, died March 25, 2008. She was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Florida. She was preceded in death by her mother, which we lost this past January, Alma Pauline Gleason Carver; and former husband Jesse A. Morris. A memorial service will be held for family members at her daughter's home in Lucedale. Ellen Rebecca Poole, 35, died March 25, 2008; born in Pascagoula on Oct. 19, 1972. Burial: Serene Memorial Gardens, Escatawpa. Mar 26 Pamela Louise (Baker) Brochard, 50, resident of the Big Point Community, died March 26, 2008, in San Angelo, TX. She was born on Oct. 11, 1957. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Louise (Hamilton) Baker; one sister, Rita Diane Baker, and one brother, Robert "Bobby" Glenn Baker. Services: March 29, 2008 in Cottonport. Mrs. Jean Dearing, age 78, of Ocean Springs, died March 26, 2008. Born on June 22, 1929, in Jayess, MS. She was the twelfth child of Clemens D. and Ettie Dunaway. Mrs. Dearing was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and four sisters. Burial: Memorial Park. Joan Muriel Hollon, 73 of Gautier, died March 26, 2008. Mrs. Hollon was born on August 18, 1934 in Prattville, Alabama. She was a member of the American Poetry Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Myrtle Fisher. Graveside services: Biloxi National cemetery. Gentry Felix Miller, 95, died on March 26, 2008, in Albany, Ga. Mr. Miller was born in Silver Creek, Miss., on Aug. 11, 1912. He was a passionate member of the Gideons International for more than 50 years, serving as state chaplain for three years and president of the local camp in Moss Point. Ralph Hollis Pike Sr., 75, died, March 26, 2008, a native of Campbellsville, Ky., the oldest son of the late Clarence and Aliene Pike. Savage, 100, of Pascagoula, died March 26, 2008, just ten days before her 101st birthday. She was born on April 5, 1907, in Yazoo County, MS. She was one of five children of Lee Jones (a farmer) and Sally Porch Jones. Interment: Jackson County Memorial Park. Mar 27 Stella Mae Brooks, born December 30, 1915 in MS to Mr. and Mrs. Isaac and Stella Jessie, died March 27, 2008 in Pascagoula at the age of 92. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Brooks Sr. (September 15, 1914 - February 25, 1991); Betty Lou Brooks, an infant daughter in the 1940s; her parents; her grandson, Glen A Brown her brothers, David Jessie and Isaac Jessie, Jr.; and her sister, Pearlie Harris. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery. Jimmye Nell Kimble Hoye, 65, born Sept. 5, 1942, in Neshoba County, MS; a resident of Pascagoula, died March 27, 2008. She was preceded in death by a loving daughter, Pamela Hoye Gildersleeve; her parents, Mack and Annie Lou Kimble; four sisters, Annie Grace Brooks, Tressie Washington, Dersena Palmer and Audrey Frazier Valley; and a brother, Roosevelt Sanders. Mar 31 Mr. Philip Brody, age 73, of Ocean Springs, died, March 31, 2008, a native of Brooklyn, NY. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He retired from Keesler AFB in 1973. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Mae Tripp; daughter, Debbie Smith; granddaughter, Aryka Brody; and brothers, Dave Brody and George Gordon.
