Mrs. Lane was preceded in death by her parents, William and Verna VanCourt Westphal; a sister, Verna Dufault, and one brother, Arsene Westphal. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, Miss. James "J.C." Morie born July 14, 1930, in the Franklin Creek community. J.C. died at home Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Yvonne "Bonnie" Atwell Morie; one son, William Burroughs; two sisters, Nettie Wells and Creasy Patterson; and one brother, Otis Morie. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Old Pascagoula Road, Theodore, AL. Dec 2 Douglass "Doug" Latimer Fontaine, 75, of Pascagoula, Miss., passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at his home. He was born June 12, 1932, in Boston, Mass., to the late John E. Fontaine Jr. and Sydney Hosford Latimer Fontaine. Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula. Rev. George Clifton "G. C." Killingsworth Sr., 71 of Gautier, Miss., went to be with the Lord, Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, in Ocean Springs , Miss., surrounded by family. He was born May 12, 1936, in Chase, La., to the late Almon Mack and Ludie Ella Elizabeth Jones Killingsworth. He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Pamela Marie Green; a grandson, Michael James Killingsworth; two brothers, Cecil and Levon Killingsworth. Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, Miss. Mr. Robert Nelson Parker, 58, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at his home in Wade, Miss. He was born Jan. 20, 1949, in Biloxi, Miss. He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Robert Parker. Interment will follow in Serene Memorial Gardens, Escatawpa, Miss. Dec 3 Fred Ashford of Vancleave, Miss., died Dec. 3, 2007. Mrs. Gloria Wooten Mann, age 54, of Pascagoula, Miss. passed away Dec. 3, 2007. She was born July 9, 1953, in Pine Bluff, Ark. She was preceded in death by her father, Jewell B. Wooten. Interment will be at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Ocean Springs, Miss. Elizabeth Amelia Royals Singley, matriarch of the Singley family, passed from this life at her home in the early morning of Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Singley was born in Meridian, Miss., on Oct. 29, 1912. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Thomas Edwards Royals; her mother, Verna Casteel Royals; and her husband, James Taylor Singley of Meridian. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. William A. "Sonny" Stuart Jr. passed away on Dec. 3, 2007, in Pascagoula, Miss. He was born on Dec. 24, 1920, in Carroll County, Miss. Sonny was a resident of Jackson County for over 65 years, graduating in the class of 1949 from Pascagoula High School. Mr. Stuart was preceded in death by his dear parents, W.A. and Allie Jewel Stuart. Interment will be at Machpelah Cemetery. Dec 4 Mrs. Evie Reeves Davis, went to be with her Lord and Savior Dec. 4, 2007, at the age of 95 of natural causes. She was born on March 21, 1912, in Lucedale, Miss., to the late Lyman and Molly Reeves. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ealon Davis, and two sons, Henry Ealon Davis Jr. of Moss Point, Miss. and Raymond L. Davis of Humble, Texas. Burial will follow at Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point. Dec 5 Mr. Ben Farris, 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at his home in Gautier, Miss. He was born June 2, 1926, in Carbon Hill, Walker County, Ala. Mr. Farris was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mr. Dee and Mrs. Lillie Henson Farris; his first wife, Mrs. Jean Farris; three brothers, Barney D. Farris, Charles Farris, Bill Farris; and three sisters, Ruth Black, Willodean Zinn and Lois Rutledge. Interment will follow in Jackson County Memorial Park. Mr. Larry Wayne Holt, 68, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Holt was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Essie Holt; seven brothers and one sister. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Eleanor Davis Lander, 97, of Moss Point, Miss., passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 4, 2007. She was born Feb. 20, 1910, in Escatawpa, Miss. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles J. Lander; her parents, Charles and Adeline Davis; her siblings, Alma Byrd, Curtis Davis, Ruth Mae Graham, Everett Davis, Flossie Cunningham, Roland Goff, Harvey Goff, Hazel Rhodes and Nina Pearl Goff, and her son-in-law, Calvin N. William Albert Green Jr, a native of Dunn, La., and a lifelong resident of Gautier, Miss., died on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007. He was born March 21, 1921, to the late Laura Williams Green and William Authur Green of Winnfield, La. He was preceded in death by a loving son, Lloyd Anthony Green of Gautier, Miss.; a sister, Alma Smith, of Winnfield, La.; and five brothers, Pete Green of Jonesboro, La.; Manuel Green of Sikes, La.; Earl Green, of Winnfield; Clayton Green, of Houston, Texas; and Doyle Green, of Meridian, Miss. Dorothy Mae Tapper, 84, of Pascagoula, Miss., was born on Aug. 18, 1923, in Anderson, S.C., and departed this life on Dec. 9, 2007, at River Chase Village, Gautier, Miss. Dec 8 none Dec 9 Ula May Hunter, 81 years old, of Pascagoula, Miss., departed this life at Pascagoula's Singing River Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, after a long illness. Mrs. Hunter was born on Sept. 20, 1926, in Jefferson, Ohio; and lived in Key West, Fla., and in Freeport, Texas, before moving to the Pascagoula area 48 years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ula Mae Champion; two brothers, Lauren and William Champion; and sister, Frankie Joann Barness. Graveside funeral services will be held at Jackson County Memorial Park. Mr. Ragon E. Jones, 85, of Moss Point, Miss., died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, with his wife by his side. He was born Oct. 28, 1922 in Georgiana, Ala., to the late James Daniel Jones Sr., and Ola Mae McLain Jones. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death his by his daughter Linda J. Dunn. Interment with Military Honors will complete the service at 1:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, Miss. Dec 10 none Dec 11 Robert Lee Richardson, 56, of Moss Point, Miss. died Dec. 11, 2007. Mr. Robert Lee Richardson was born Sept. 1, 1951, in Monroe County, Ala. to Hibbard Richardson, Sr., and Ellen Riley. Robert was the youngest of 16 children. He was preceded in death by his father, Hibbard Richardson, Sr.; six brothers, Hibbard Richardson, Jr., Jack Richardson, John Richardson, Hubert Richardson, Roosevelt Richardson, Charlie Richardson; and two sisters, Thikell Minor and Catherine Batchelor. Interment will be in Scranton Cemetery, Pascagoula. Dec 12 Joyce Catherine Delmas Burrell, age 75, a native of Pascagoula, Miss. and a longtime resident of Grand Bay, Ala. passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Chloe Delmas; her husband, Grady "Pete" Burrell and two daughters, Elizabeth and Paula Burrell. Graveside service will be at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, Miss. Mrs. Alice Maxine Jones, 70, of Escatawpa, Miss., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, in Pascagoula, Miss. She was born Dec. 3, 1937, in New Hebron, Miss. Mrs. Jones is reunited with her parents, Reecie and Lena Herrington; sister, Helen Berry; her husband's parents, Hopson and Thelma Jones. Burial will follow at Macphelah Cemetery. Mr. Jose Matos 37, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Dec. 12, 2007. Dec 13 Mrs. Eunice Barnes, 93, of Pascagoula, Miss. died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 at Camelia Estates in McComb, Miss. She was preceded in death by her husband, George V. Barnes. Visitation will be held at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg. Burial will be held at Roseland Park Cemetery. Johnny Lee Seals, 55 of Moss Point, Miss., died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007. Mrs. Annie Bell Tatum Williams was the daughter of the late Mr. Jessie Tatum and Mrs. Mary Tatum. She was born Feb. 3, 1915, in Escatawpa, Miss. She entered into eternal rest on Dec. 13, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Tatum; husband, Mr. Dock Williams; her grandson, Reginald Williams; four brothers, and three sisters. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Escatawpa. Dec 14 Vernon W. Entrekin, of Richmond, Va., (formally of Moss Point, Miss.) died Dec. 14, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Moore Entrekin. Born and raised in Biloxi, Miss. Ms. Florence Harris was born June 17, 1946, in Pike County, Miss., to the late Wesley Williams Sr. and Roberta Moses Williams. She departed this life on Dec. 14, 2007 in Moss Point, Miss. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jerry and Fannie Mae Williams; maternal grandparents, Ollie and Annie Moses; parents, Wesley and Roberta Williams; two sisters, Nercile Dawson and Patricia Ann Williams; and two brothers, Leroy and Joe Lewis Williams. Interment will be at Gabriel Cemetery, Pascagoula, Miss. Dec 15 Rev. Harry A. Howard, Sr., was the son of the late Jeff Addison and Eva Bell (Wilson) Howard. He was born on Sept. 25, 1931, at the former Jackson County Hospital in Moss Point, Miss. He died on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Arie "Maxine" Howard; brother and sister, Edward and Edwina Howard (twins). Interment will be in Scranton Cemetery, Pascagoula, Miss. Mr. John Clarence Batson Sr. was born May 8, 1931, in Vancleave, Miss. He was the son of the late Joseph Batson and Laura Burney Batson. Mr. Batson departed this earthly life on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at 5:25 a.m. in Ocean Springs, Miss. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Vancleave. Mr. O'Neal Biggs, 53, of Moss Point, Miss., died Dec. 18, 2007, at Central Medical Center in Jackson, Miss. He was born March 24, 1954, in Moss Point and has been a lifelong resident of the Jackson County area. Interment will be in First Baptist Cemetery, Escatawpa, Miss. E. A. (Andy) Looney Jr., 58, a native of Atlanta, Ga., and resident of Pascagoula, Miss., area for 30 years died at a local hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007. Mr. Looney served in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jones. There will be a private memorial service at a later date. Dec 19 Ms. Blanche V. Simmons, 79, of Madison, Ala., died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, in a Huntsville, Ala., hospital. Ms. Simmons was born June 14, 1928, in Moss Point, Miss., to the late King and Maude Seaman Simmons; she had been a resident of Madison for the past five years. Ms. Simmons was raised in Moss Point, was a graduate of Moss Point High School. Ms. Simmons was preceded in death by her only brother, Arnold Simmons. Howard Wayne Thornton, 60, of Albuquerque, N.M., died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, after a 12 year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Betty Thornton of Albuquerque, (the former Betty Fields of Pascagoula); Wayne was born in Wewoka, Okla. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper Dr., NE, Albuquerque, N.M. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Dec 20 Infant Sarah Elizabeth Corley was born Dec. 20, 2007. Graveside service will be at Pinecrest Cemetery in Gautier, MS. Charles E. Mann, 56, of Pascagoula, Miss., passed away Dec. 20, 2007, in Mobile, Ala. He was born Oct. 7, 1951, in Pascagoula. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria "Jeanne" Mann; mother, Gertrude Green Mann and father, Burt Mann. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs, Miss. Dec 21 Mrs. Faye Jane Ramirez DenBleyker, 64, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, in Helena. She was born July 22, 1943, in Jackson, Miss.She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Mr. Garrett Henry and Mrs. Louise David Harris; and her first husband, Mr. Lawrence G. "Larry" Ramirez. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007. S/Sgt. Murray E. Johnson, 75, of Vancleave, Miss., passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at his home surrounded by family and friends. Sgt. Murray was born Jan. 22, 1932, in Hornell, New York. Sgt. Murray was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Priscilla Perrino Johnson; mother, Lucille Johnson; father, John William Johnson; and sister, Beulla Johnson Ribble. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. Robert Wedgeworth, known by many as "Beef Jerky Bob," age 73, of Ocean Springs died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Wedgeworth; three sisters, Doris Propst, Jane Loper and Faye Wedgeworth; one brother, Dolphas Wedgeworth; and his parents, Ruby and Doss-Wedgeworth. A graveside service to follow at Doss-Wedgeworth Cemetery in Saucier, Harrison County, MS. Dec 22 Mrs. Willie Mae Brumfield, 88, a resident of Plaza Nursing Center, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007. Mrs. Brumfield was born Jan. 28, 1919, in D'Lo, Miss., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Smith. When she was two years old the family moved to Sunflower County, Miss., and there she grew up in the Mississippi cotton fields. She moved to Jackson County in the early 1940's where she was employed by the Braswell and Leonard families for 35 years. Interment will conclude services in Machpelah Cemetery. Brandon Thomas Burrell, 33, died on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007. Dec 24 Kenneth Harrison Jaquith, age 88, World War II naval veteran, and a native of Bath, Maine, passed away on Dec. 24, 2007. He was a resident of Bay St. Louis, Miss., for over 35 years and over 35 years as a resident of Pascagoula, Miss. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at The Christ Episcopal Church of Bay St. Louis, of which Kenneth was a long standing member. William H. "Bill" O'Bannon Sr., 80, of Moss Point, Miss., passed away Dec. 24, 2007, in Grand Bay, Ala. He was born Nov. 13, 1927, in Brewton, Ala., to the late Clyde and Lillie Ory O'Bannon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Bosley; brothers, Clyde and John O'Bannon, and a great-granddaughter, Jessica. Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa, Miss. Dec 25 Jack Cleo Allday, age 85, died Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2007. Jack was born the day after Christmas, Dec. 26, 1921. Interment will follow in Machpelah Cemetery, Pascagoula. Bruce Graves, 70, of Moss Point, Miss., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, in Moss Point. He was born in Bassfield, Miss., on Jan. 5, 1937. Preceding him in death was his parents, Nathaniel Graves and Lucy Jane Thompson Graves, and his sister, Hazel Davis; brothers, Leverner Thompson, Johnny Henry Thompson, Willie Lee Eaton and Luther Hathorn; also his paternal grandparents, Luther and Edna Graves, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson and Janie Thompson, all of Bassfield. Visitation for Mr. Graves will be at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Moss Point. Della J. Shorey, 73, of D'Iberville, Miss., died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, in Gulfport, Miss. Della had been a resident of the Gulf Coast since 1973. She was the secretary and co-owner of Gautier Tire Service and a member of Heritage United Methodist Church, where she was the church secretary and president of the Church Women's Group. Della was also a member of several Tops organizations on the Coast. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister. Interment will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery. Dec 26 Harris Guy Barrett, II - A native of Pascagoula, Miss., and a resident of Mobile, Ala., passed away in Austin, Texas. Guy was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wayne Montgomery Lasater. Funeral services were held from Spring Hill Baptist Church in Mobile, AL. Mrs. Bessie Melton Hutchinson diedon Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007. Born in West, Miss., and formerly of Sturgis and Natchez, Miss., lived her last eight years in Pascagoula, Miss. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, George D. Hutchinson. The graveside service will be at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Ackerman, Miss. Mrs. Panayota Karahalios, 92, of Vancleave, Miss., died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, in Ocean Springs, Miss. Mrs. Karahalios was a native of Horemi, Greece, had lived on the Coast since 1977, and was a housewife. She loved to sing and was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Mrs. Barlow was a homemaker and longtime resident of Jackson County. Mrs. Barlow was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Clifton G. Barlow, Jr.; mother, Helen Hagele; stepfather, William Hagele; father, Edward Heiser and sister, May Aquilla. Deana Knight, 64, of Helena, Miss., passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, in Ocean Springs, Miss. She was born in Villa Rica, Ga., on June 14, 1943. Preceding her in death was her husband, Jerrell Wayne Knight; her parents, Newman E. and Ella Lucille Camp; a brother, Wendell Camp; and a sister, Nellie Ruth Carden. Mr. Robert Emmett Lee, 83, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007. He was born in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Feb. 20, 1924, and moved to Biloxi when he was a year old. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Goss and Christian Thomas. Burial will follow in the Biloxi National Cemetery. Mr. Jimmy Edward Miller, 63, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents, David E. and Wilma "Bill" Miller; brother, George Miller, and his former wife, Joyce Miller. Graveside services will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia, Miss. Dec 30 Mr. Samuel L. Savage, Jr., 75, of New Augusta, Miss., died at his residence on Dec. 30, 2007. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nila Bosarge. Funeral services will be held at Jones & Son Funeral Home in Richton, Miss. Mr. Arthur L. Sowell, 86, of Ocean Springs, was born March 11, 1921, in Greene County, Miss. He passed on to eternal life on Dec. 30, 2007. Funeral services will be at McCann Missionary Baptist Church, on Will Pet Road, Leakesville, Miss. Interment will be in New Providence Cemetery, Leakesville, Miss. Dec 31 Dorothy Lavonia Richardson, age 81, of Escatawpa, Miss. died Monday Dec. 31, 2007, in Pascagoula, Miss. She was born March 26, 1926, in Neshoba County, Miss. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Andrew and Beulah Ladd Spears; husbands, Durward B. Gunter and Dave Richardson; one sister, Louise Watkins; and a son-in-law, Ralph Howell. Burial will follow at Four Mile Creek Cemetery in Escatawpa. Janice Mendoria Harrison Zinnimon, 66, was born on Dec. 17, 1941, in Moss Point, Miss., to the parents of Mr. John Douglas (Roberta B. Calhoun) Harrison. Died on Dec. 31, 2007. She was united in holy matrimony with the late George Lee Zinnimon Sr. To this union three children. She was preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Edna Olivia Harrison. Interment will be in Scranton Cemetery, Pascagoula.
