Bryson Charles Aplin, infant, of Pascagoula, died September 2, 2009 in Mobile,
AL. Mass of the Angels will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Mike
Kelleher as the celebrant. 

Mrs. Doris Jean (Thompson) Hooks, 76, born in Parks, AR., a resident of Gautier,
MS passed away September 1, 2009. Preceded in death by her parents, Clifton R.
and Bygie S. Thompson; husband, Marvin Denver Hooks; and son, Cecil Hooks. A
memorial service will be held at Martin Bluff Baptist Church, Gautier.

Ms. Felecia Gaines, 45, a resident of Ocean Springs, died September 2, 2009 in
Ocean Springs, MS.

Beatrice Taylor, 82, a native of Arkansas and a resident of Ocean Springs died
September 2, 2009, in Ocean Springs. Preceded in death by her husband, Coy
Taylor, son, Bobby Taylor, Sr., parents, Russell and Mary Hooper Robinson,
sister, Gladys Campbell brother, R.F. Robinson and two grandsons, Bobby Taylor
Jr. and Andrew M. Goodwin.

Johnny Lee Walsh Sr., 64, of Vancleave, Ms passed away September 2, 2009, born
in Newton, Ms to John D. and Elaine Walsh. Preceded in death by a sister, Patsy
Walsh.

Dustin Lee Brown, 22, of Moss Point, MS, died September 3, 2009, as a result of
a tragic traffic accident. Preceded in death by his maternal grandmother,
Elizabeth Havard, and his paternal grandfather, Olester Brown. A Celebration of
Dustin's Life will take place at a later date.

Willard Earl Billington, 77, a resident of Ocean Springs, MS passed away
September 3, 2009, in Gulfport, MS. Mr. Billington was born in St. Louis, MO to
the late Willard Patrick and Flora O'Bannon Billington on September 25, 1931.
Preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Florence Carleton, Hollie
Billington, Esta Jackson, and Rolla P. Billington.

Baby Aaliyah Bernice Baggett, age 15 days, of Gautier, MS passed away September
4, 2009 in Ocean Springs, MS.

Russell Campbell, 58, of Pascagoula died September 4, 2009.

Marietta Krebs Olsen, 87, a lifelong resident of Pascagoula, passed away Sept.
4, 2009 in Pascagoula. She was born May 24, 1922 in Pascagoula. Preceded in
death by her husband, Everette Olsen; parents, Sidione and Josephine Krebs; two
brothers, Roy Krebs and Leo Krebs; five sisters, Lena Anderson, Rosie Colter,
Bertie Woodward, Lillian Lago and Hilda Braneski.

Thomas Wayne Tomlin "Tommy", 57, a native of Pascagoula, MS, died September 4,
2009. He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Davis; and grandparents
Doy and Elma Davis. Services: Trinity Bible Church, 7313 Elder Ferry Rd.,
Pascagoula.

Rita J. Turner, 61, of Gautier, MS passed away Sept. 4, 2009. She was born in
Laurel, MS and has been a long time resident of Jackson County, MS.

Mrs. Maggie Mae Speed Tidmore, 80, of Vancleave, MS, formerly of Cleveland, AL
died September 5, 2009. Preceded in death by her father, Andrew Speed, mother,
Lorena Farr and husband, Robert Tidmore, Jr. Graveside services in Nectar
Cemetery. Arrangements by Blount Co. Funeral Home, Cleveland, AL. 

Mrs. DeVeaux (Deedy) Walker Munro, 87, passed away September 5, 2009, at home in
Ocean Springs, MS. Born in San Antonio, TX to the late Wilfred E. and Myrtle
Wood Walker. In 1952, she opened Deedy's Dress Shop in Biloxi and later in Ocean
Springs, Deedy's Famous Dress and Bridal Shop. Preceded in death by her husband
Donald Charles Munro, son, John Currie Munro, and grandson, William Scott Baxter.

John Engle Smith, 88, of Pascagoula passed away Sept. 5, 2009. Born Sept. 7,
1920 in Shuqualak, MS. He was a retired owner and operator of Smith’s Body Shop
in Pascagoula .

He was born in Brookly, New York and has been a resident of Pascagoula for over

Mrs. Ola Mae Herron Wooten Rogers, 77, a longtime resident of Ocean Springs, MS,
died September 7, 2009, in D'Iberville, MS. She was born in Sardis, MS to Louis
& Octa Clark Herron. She owned and operated Ola's Snowballs for many years.
Preceded in death by her husbands, Joe Lee Wooten, Sr. & Johnny Rogers, and her
son, Foy L. Wooten.

Mrs. Emma Lou (Husband) Preston Knight, passed away September 8, 2009. She is
the daughter of the late James and Geneva Husband. Preceded in her death by her

Teddy Wayne Scott,48, of Ocean Springs, MS, died September 11, 2009, in Ocean
Springs. He was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Kay Scott Bradford.

Sept. 12
Mr. Charles V. Hook, 83, of Coden, AL, died September 12, 2009, in Mobile, AL.
Mr. Hook was a resident of Jackson County from 1963-2004, and was most recently
a resident of Fowl River, AL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII
and the Korean Conflict. Preceded in death by two wives, Bernice Byrd Hook and
Lola Kittrell Hook and his parents, Lester and Josephine Estrada Hook.

James (Seamus) Valentine Smith, 81, of Ocean Springs, passed away September 12,
2009 in Ocean Springs. Jim was a native of Dublin, Ireland, born May 19, 1928.
He immigrated to the United States in 1950.

Mrs. Linda Adams Bell, 57, of Ocean Springs, MS, died September 13, 2009, in
Ocean Springs. Mrs. Bell was born in Tennessee, raised in Weir, MS. Preceded in
death by her parents, Lawrence and Gertrude Adams and two brothers, Michael
Adams and John Adams. Memorial Service: First Baptist Church of Vancleave.

Michael Dahl, 66, of Vancleave, MS died September 13, 2009, in Ocean Springs.
Preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Mary Dahl, a twin brother, James
Dahl and grandson, Gerald Dahl III.

Jefferson David Strom Sr, 80, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away at his home
September 13, 2009.

Glenda Lou Wilbanks, 64, of Gautier, MS passed away September 13, 2009 at home.
Mrs. Wilbanks was born in Tishomingo County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Cutie
Hicks. Preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Hicks and a brother, Scotty Hicks.

Clyde Arnold Hester, 56, a native of Pascagoula passed away Sept. 14, 2009 at
his residence. Preceded in death by parents, James and Thelma Hester; two
sisters and one brother, Louise Hester, Carol Jean Hester, and Gene Hester;
nephew, Gerald Wayne Hester; two nieces, Melissa and Renee Hood.

Mr. Wiley Ennis Kendrick, 76, of Moss Point, MS, passed away September 14, 2009
at his home. He was born August 2, 1933 in Robertsdale, AL to the late Calvin
Veston and Rebecca Kemp Kendrick. He was owner of Kemp Hardware and Pas-Point
Antique Mall until he retired in 1998. Preceded in death by his parents; first
wife, Billie Childress Kendrick; sister, Wylene McCrory; brother, Calvin
Kendrick Jr. and father-in-law, Maurice Tanner.

William Ruspino, 89, of Ocean Springs, MS died Sept. 14, 2009 in Gulfport, MS. 

William Martin, 28, of Pascagoula passed on September 14, 2009 in Pascagoula. He
is preceded in death by both grandparents, Alfred and Adelaide Martin, great
grandmother, Annie Bell Edwards, two aunts and three uncles. The family will
hold a memorial service at a later time.

Blondine M. Grant, 76, died September 18, 2009. 

Freddie Lyhugh Nerren, 74, of Escatawpa, MS, passed away September 15, 2009 in
Pascagoula. Mr. Nerren was born in Memphis, TN. Preceded in death by a daughter
Brenda Nerren, parents Benjamin & Bessie Nerren and 3 siblings. Graveside
services will be at East Union Baptist Church, Magnolia, MS.

John F. Martin, 84, of Ocean Springs, MS died September 16, 2009 in Ocean
Springs. Preceded in death by his parents, Everett & Josephine Martin; two
brothers, Bill & Charles Martin, and two sisters, Geneva Richardson and Joy Dunow.

Vernitte Wells Davis, 66, of Ocean Spring, MS, passed away September 17, 2009 in
Ocean Springs. She was born in Moss Point. She was preceded in death by her
parents Orie and Nettie Wells.

Delphine Caroline Gidersleeve Williams, passed away September 17, 2009 in
Pascagoula, MS. She was born in Pascagoula, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert
(Georgia L. Norvel) Gildersleeve, on January 16, 1928. Delphine attended
Pascagoula Negro High School in Pascagoula, MS. Preceded in death by her
parents; her husband, Lenro Williams, Sr.; brother, Richard A. Gildersleeve;
granddaughter, Leenah K. Tatum; great-grandson, Adrian Kele Williams and
great-granddaughter, Kihanna La'Miracle Jones.

in Ocean Springs. Preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Vera Miller Byrd;

Bennett L. Trenouth, of Ocean Springs, passed away Sept. 18, 2009. It was his
wish to donate his body to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for
anatomical study. 

Mary Lee Stevenson, 59, was a native of Fort Knox, KY, and resident of Moss
Point, MS.  And a former teacher of Ed Mayo Junior High School 8th grade, died
September 18, 2009.

Nora Lavenia (Tully) Andrews, 64, of formally of Escatawpa, MS passed away
September 24, 2009 in Leakesville, MS, born in Pascagoula. She worked as a
deputy sheriff with the Jackson County Sheriff Department. Preceded in death by
her parents Herman and Nora Tully. She is survived by four children, eleven
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Angela Elmira Loper Kitchens, 47, a native of Pascagoula, a resident of Hurley,
MS passed away September 25, 2009 in Mobile , AL. She was the owner of
Savannah’s Florist in Grand Bay, AL. Preceded in death by her father, George Loper.

Daniel L. Wells "Captain Dan", passed away September 25, 2009. He was born
January 16, 1922 in Three Rivers, MS, he was the son of the late Honor and
Vassie Wells. In 1937, Captain Dan was pinned as the first African American
Deputy Sheriff of Jackson County, Mississippi. According to a reputable
newspaper article, he is presumably the first black law officer in Mississippi
and maybe the South. Simultaneously, Captain Dan worked for the International
Paper Company and as a Deputy Sheriff for over 60 years. He is survived by his
children,; 30 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, great-great
grandchildren, brothers, nieces, nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Vivian
Marion Wells, daughters, Judy Anderson and Bessie Reynolds, granddaughters,
Theresa Anderson and Lithia "Rose" Hobbs and brother Dr. Lonnie L. Wells.
Funeral services will be held at Davis Chapel United Methodist Church, Three
River, MS. Both funeral services for Grady and Capt. Dan will be held at 11:00
a.m. Saturday October 3, 2009 at

Mrs. Fay Williams Adams, 62, a resident of Ocean Springs, MS and native of
Meridian, Lauderdale, County, MS, died September 26, 2009, in Pascagoula, MS.
Preceded in death by her father, Morris C. Williams of Meridian and Hattiesburg;
her grandparents Joseph S. and Lucille Camp Breyer of Meridian and Frank W.

Brandy Nicole (Jordan) Guillotte Jones, 28, of Moss Point, MS died on September
26, 2009. She was born in Pascagoula. Preceded in death by her parents, Arlie

born in Dawson, Georgia. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Doris Curtis.

Kevin Michael Reed, 24, of St. Martin, joined his father, Mike Reed; paternal
grandparents, Prentiss and Ozella Reed; and maternal grandfather, Earl F. Batia,
Sr., in heaven, Sunday, September 27, 2009. Kevin was a lifelong resident of the
St. Martin Community where he attended St. Martin High School. D'Iberville

Robert Joseph LoChiatto, 80, of Pascagoula, MS passed away September 26, 2009.
He was born May 31, 1929 in Boston, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Ray Petrick, 81, of Ocean Springs, MS, died September 28, 2009, in Ocean
Springs. Mr. Petrick was a member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Ocean
Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Mary Petrick.
