She was a member of the Red Hat Society. July 2 Mrs. Dorothy Christine Minga Clark, 69, died July 2, 2008, in Pascagoula, MS. She was born April 25, 1939 in Grenada, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy D. Clark; her father and mother, Gus David and Jessie Mae Minga; and a brother and sister. Entombment: Jackson County Memorial Park. Mr. Louis Brent Jr., 73, of Gautier, MS, died July 2, 2008, born on Oct. 10, 1934, in Belle Alliance, La., to the late Agnes Walker and Louis Brent Sr. He served 21 years in the United States Navy. Interment: Biloxi National Cemetery. July 3 Rev. William "Bill" Barton Sr., 83, died 3, 2008, in Ocean Springs, MS. Rev. Barton was born August 25, 1924, in Abbeville, AL. He pastored four churches for over 30 years: Bay View Heights, Mobile, AL; First Baptist Church, Satsuma, AL; Jackson Avenue Baptist Church, Pascagoula, MS; and Wade Baptist Church, Wade, MS. He served as interim pastor for 32 churches while serving as Director of the Home of Grace. He and his wife founded the Home of Grace in 1965. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Melody Ann (Lester) Barton, 16. Burial: Vancleave No. 1 Cemetery, Vancleave. Mr. Louis Brent Jr., 73, of Gautier, died July 3, 2008. James Henry Lewis Jr., 78 of Gautier, MS, died July 3, 2008 at his home. He spent his adult life in the printing business, and for more than 20 years owned and operated James Lewis Graphics in Gautier, MS. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents James H. Joseph Maurice Donahue, 81, died July 4, 2008, in Helena, MS. Born February 10, 1927 to Joseph Maurice and Helen (Wenslow) Donahue in Nanticoke, PA. Joseph is the brother of Marie (Gene-deceased) Brislin, Tom (Rosie-deceased, Betty) Donahue, and Fran-deceased (Stan) Bodek. He was the grandson of the late Beatrice and Maurice Donahue and Mike and Fran Wesnlow. A WWII veteran, Joseph served our country on numerous naval vessels. He was most proud of his work as a Weapons Officer at the Polaris Missle Facility. Joseph retired as a Lieutenant in the United State Navy. Interment: Machpelah Cemetery. Leroy Henry "Flea" Linder, 83, died July 4, 2008. Born on Nov. 23, 1924 in Pascagoula, MS. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lalie and Louis Linder; sisters, Shirley Ezell, Delores Myers, Betty Kirkland; and brother Cliff Linder. Interment: Jackson County Memorial Park with both Masonic and Military graveside rites. July 5 Harold Jensen Jr., 68, of Gautier, MS, died July 5, 2008, in Ocean Springs, MS. Jensen was born Aug. 6, 1939, in Stanford, Conn., to the late Harold and Evie Ann Jensen Sr. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force. A private interment will be held at a later date. Mr. Jimmy D. McAuthur 69, of Wade died July 5, 2008, in Lucedale. Mr. McArthur was born June 10, 1939, in Philadelphia, MS. July 8 Retired Senior Chief Donald Waite Caillavet Sr., 74, of Ocean Springs, MS, died July 8, 2008. Donald was born June 25, 1934, in Buffalo, NY, to the late Frances A. and Evelyn Caillavet. Donald proudly served his country for 21 years in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Caillavet Jr., and a brother, Robert Caillavet. Rogers, 79, a native of Vancleave, MS died July 9, 2008 in Ocean Springs, MS. He served in the US Navy from 1950 through 1954 and was discharged as a 3rd Class Petty Officer. July 10 Benton Thad Trehern, 77, of Pascagoula, died July 10, 2008, at his residence. Born December 14, 1930 in Pascagoula, MS and was a life long resident. July 11 Mrs. Esther Mae Roberts Stanford, 84, of North Biloxi, Ms, died July 11, 2008, in Pascagoula. Mrs. Stanford was born in Wiggins, Miss., and had been a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. Mrs. Stanford was preceded in death by her husband, Earnie Stanford; children, Esther Mae Roberts, Linda Carol Roberts, Larry R. Roberts and Walter M. Roberts. She is survived by three daughters, three sons, 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery. July 12 Mrs. Gwendolyn Joyce (Robinson) Huffman, died July 12, 2008. She was the third child born to Mrs. Maggie Green and the late Willie Robinson in Pascagoula, MS. A State Trooper for the State of Louisiana until her health began to fail. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Willie Robinson, grandparents, Willie and Maggie Burt and brother, Marvin Washington. He was a United States Navy veteran and a 32nd Degree Shriner. His mother, Lorraine Evans; father, Norman Raby, Sr.; stepmother, Irene DeShurley; brothers, Evon Raby and Wayne Evans; nephew, John McDermand; and father-in-law, Melvin McDermand preceded him in death. Mr. Phillips was born February 12, 1935, in New Castle, PA, to the late William L. and Ellen Phillips. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and Germany. He was born on Sept. 30, 1937, in Tampico, Mexico. Julio lived along the coast since 1955. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Rosa Alvarez; brother, Robert and sister, Ester. She was preceded in death by her father Carl Edwin Nelson; mother Bertha Delius Nelson; foster brothers Herbert Castona and Edward Castona; favorite cousin Catherine Castona Adams. Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Pascagoula, MS. Mr. Glenn Young, Sr., age 82, of Ocean Springs, MS, died July 16, 2008, in Ocean Springs. A lifelong resident of Ocean Springs and was a veteran of WWII serving in the Merchant Marines. He was employed with Civil Service at Keesler Air Force Base for over 30 years. He served as Chief Steward for the AFLCIO. Mr. Young was the Civil Defense Director for the City of Ocean Springs for 35 years and also with the Jackson County Civil Defense. He served the public through many storms and hurricanes. He was one of the founding members of the Ocean Springs National Guard, a volunteer fireman, served as an Ocean Springs Alderman in the 1980's for Ward 4, and owned and operated the Seven G's Charter Boat for many years. Mr. Young was preceded in death by a son, George Young, his parents, Orey A. Young and Marinina Moran Young, a twin brother, Alan Young and sister, Audrey Sterkens. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery. July 17 Buford Daniel Myrick, age 91, of Ocean Springs, died July 17, 2008 in Ocean Springs. At the age of twenty two, after traveling the United States with the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was sent to Ocean Springs to help build Magnolia State Park; known as Gulf Islands National Sea Shore. He was the last charter member of the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce, he helped form the Noon Lions Club and received the Outstanding Citizens award of Jackson County. Mr. Myrick owned and operated Ocean Springs Distributors, he photographed and produced many of the post cards of the Gulf Coast, which was the love of his business life. Mr. Myrick was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Dwayne Davis, four brothers and five sisters. Burial: Crestlawn Memorial Park. "Bud" Boland, 71, passed away at his home in Pascagoula on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, following a lengthy illness. He was born on April 26, 1937, in Marin County, Calif. He attended high school and college before serving as First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. In 1971, he and his family moved to Pascagoula, where he was the owner and CEO of Pavco Industries. An entrepreneur throughout his life, he also was the owner of many other businesses, including Franklin Graphics in Nashville, Tenn.; H&S Lumber in Charlotte, N.C.; and The Elms in Charleston, S.C. Through relocation of the Pavco offices and establishment of Preservation Grill, he contributed to the revitalization of downtown Pascagoula. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Francis Boland; mother, Alberta L. Boland; brother, Albert Boland; sister, Barbara Kline; and grandson, George Hames Boland. He received his elementary and high school education at Concordia Lutheran School, Salem, Ala. He was one of the first founders of the Men Social Club in Pascagoula. He was a lifelong member of VFW #10025. Mr. Haynes retired from Rolls-Royce Naval Marine after working many years in the finisher departments. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force and served during WWII, Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. He is preceded in death by his wife, Josie L. An active, faithful member of First Baptist Church, he was also ordained, in 1971, as a deacon at Ingalls Avenue Baptist. He owned Clark's Fire Protection, following his retirement from PHS as a football and track coach and teacher and was instrumental in creating the Driver Education Driving Range. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Egbert E. and Idelle S. Clark; brother-in- law, Raymond Williams; his paternal and maternal grandparents. Interment: Jackson County Memorial Park. Rosie Lee Cobbs, born Nov. 24, 1921, to the late Simon and Eliza Robbins, Monroe County, AL. Died on July 28, 2008. Eliza Robbins relocated from Tunnel Springs, Ala., to Moss Point.
