A native of Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late Albert W. Turner of Polk Co., and Ruth Greene Rose of Baltimore, MD. He was also predeceased in death by a sister, Kay Yingling and brother, Jack Turner, both of Baltimore, MD. Mr. Turner served 9 years in the U.S. Army and was a highly decorated Viet Nam Veteran. He remained politically active with veterans' affairs throughout his life and was instrumental in the establishment and design of the Viet Nam War Memorial in Washington, DC. Memorial services will be held at the Biloxi National Cemetery followed immediately by a graveside service with full military honors.
