Turn north at first road after crossing Brown's Bridge over the Escatawpa River (Jackson County, MS) and then take first road to the right. Original tombstone inscriptions compiled by Mrs. A. G. Shampine and Mrs. Fred Scott. Information on unmarked graves was provided by Mrs. Reby E. Davidson of State Line Road, June 27, 1971.(Requiem: Vol. III). Updated by Else J. Martin, 1996. *These graves were all moved from the “John W. Carter Homestead” in Hurley, Jackson County, MS; ca 1980. Information from: Harry McDonald There is no street address for “John W. Carter Homestead Cemetery” Hurley, Jackson County, MS. Section 32, Township 4, Range 5, south of Highway 614 in Hurley, Miss. on the old John W. Carter home place. No markers were left in the cemetery when most graves were relocated. The family of John W. Carter moved the headstones and graves where they would be taken care of.
