Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home. Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Sunday at the church. Deacon Malone was born April 11, 1907, in Jefferson County, the son of Rev. Philip and Lula Malone Sr. He enlisted in the Army in December 1943 and served in World War II. He was a member of Taylor's Chapel Baptist Church. Deacon Malone was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Malone; his parents; and three brothers, Jerome, Grant and Philip Malone Jr. Survivors include one adopted son, Roosevelt, and his wife, Theresa Malone of Fayette; one daughter, India Smith of St. Louis; four children he reared as his own, Lula Mae Malone of Fayette, Willie and spouse, Billie Early of Chicago, Doris and spouse, James Comway of Fayette and Charles Malone of Fayette; two sisters, Joan Bennett of Natchez and Elizabeth Yarborough of Columbus, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a cousin, Mary Pinder of Fayette; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be members of Masonic Lodge No. 202.
