John H. Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 3 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church. Mr. Griffin was born Feb. 25, 1910, in Jefferson County, the son of Oliver Griffin and Genora Ware Griffin. He was employed for 30 years with St. Catherine Gravel Co. and pushing barges upriver, retiring in 1980, and had worked five years for Guido Construction . He was a member and deacon of Mount Zion Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Sandy Griffin Jr. of Natchez and Master Sgt. Garfield Griffin of Fayetteville, N.C.; nine daughters, Sandra Lee Davis of Chicago, Genora Norman and Alma Lee Tenner of Detroit, Dorothy Mae Bruce, Gloria Jean Nelson, Patricia Ann Tenner, Priscilla Elizabeth Tenner, Nicole Denise Griffin and Betty Jean Thomas, all of Natchez; three sisters, Laura Sanders of Church Hill, Irby Daily and Mae Bugg of Los Angeles; one uncle-in- law, James Smith of New Orleans; two sisters-in-law, Charity White of Natchez and Rosie Lee Ware of Church Hill; one brother-in-law, Charlie Ware of Church Hill; 35 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Honorary pallbearers will be Monroe Griffin Jr., Johnnie Griffin, James Kenneth Griffin, Alvin Ray Griffin and Melvin Griffin.
