John Frye officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home. Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Ellis was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Jefferson County, the son of John and Anna Ellis. He served in Workd War II and was awarded the Phillpone Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was an honorable discharged veteran. Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and 11 sisters. Survivors include one son and his wife, Charles Ray and Shirley Leveringston of Indianapolis; one daughter, Dorothy Austin of Rowher, Ark.; one godson, Marion "Chucky" Ellis of Moss Point; five sisters, Clara Scott of Detroit, Ella D. Ellis of Natchez, Marce Brown of Kansas City, Mo., Alean Starks of Fayette and Beatrice Ellis of Jackson; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one aunt, Rosie Dixon of Fayette; one uncle, Richard Ballard of Greenville; two sisters-in-law, Carrie Ellis of McGbee, Ark. and Ada Ellis of Jackson; friend, Rosemary (Pal) Shelby of Fayette; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
