Died at her home near Fort Stephens, Kemper Co. Miss., Oct. 14th 1884, Mrs. Elzy 
Elizabeth Lee, wife of A. J. Lee Sr., a well known citizen of Kemper.  Mrs. Lee 
was born Aug. 15th 1822 and joined the Baptist church, June 1842, of which she 
was a zealous and faithful member till the time of her death.  She was well and 
favorably known to a large circle of friends who deeply mourn the loss of their 
kind friend and neighbor.  She was a lady of unflinching integrity, boldly 
standing up for what she believed to be right and bitterly opposing what she 
knew to be wrong.  She has left a large family of children and grandchildren and 
an aged husband who have been made sad and deeply feel the loss of the faithful 
wife and devoted mother.  She was indeed, and in truth a mother to her children, 
kind and affectionate in health and when sickness came she was ever present to 
administer to them with her ready hands and cheerful voice.  She loved her 
children with that love peculiar to her sex.  She was a faithful, affectionate 
and patient wife to her husband, who cherishes with fond recolection (sic) the 
memory of her many virtues and good deeds while she lived.  We offer our 
condolence to the bereaved family and express a hope and desire that when life's 
last wave shall have swept them from the vast category of the living, they may 
meet the faithful wife and devoted mother beyond the river in the home of the 
blessed.
