The headstones were handcarved of wood and were destroyed by a woods fire sometime after 1925. We have the names of the people buried here thanks to a family history written in the 1950s. The cemetery had been officially listed as "unlocated" by the Lamar County Courthouse and by the Lamar County Historical Society (both acknowledged the existence of the cemetery). The cemetery was found in June 2001 after an extensive search. Family members have recently cleaned out the cemetery and placed a fence around it. The original bricks used to outline the graves were dug up and used to remark the graves. Three of the wooden markers were found (unreadable with fire damage) and placed at the head of 3 of the graves. James C.
