Tupelo Journal, March 24, 1882
  Mr. G. P. Baskin, one of our county’s oldest and most highly esteemed 
citizens, died at his residence near this place, on Wednesday, his death being 
the result of a gradual decline under the infirmities of old age. Throughout 
his long life he preserved his character untarnished, and died honored and 
respected by all who knew him.
