J. SEAWRIGHT ------- Died at his home in Tupelo the night of August 13th, 1922 T. J. Seawright, aged 72 years. Mr. Seawright had been in feeble health for several years and some time during the past spring his health began to fail rapidly and he continued to grow worse until the end came. His family, physician and friends gave him every possible attention but it was not within their power to prolong the end. Theodore J. Seawright was born near Paris, Tenn., February 9th, 1850. He spent his childhood and youth in Tennessee. He joined the Methodist church when 14 years of age. When a young man he came to Mississippi and made his home with his uncle, the late Major Gibson, who lived near Pontotoc. Leaving there he moved to Verona where he accepted a position with T. M. Clark. In every position in life he was a man of the strictest integrity and no man in any way ever questioned his character. There was never any malice towards a fellow man, his heart was filled with the milk of human kindness and no gentler spirit ever lived than his. His daily life in his family and in his business relations was such as to surround him with friends in all walks of life and it was a pleasure at all times to be associated with him. For many years Mr. Seawright was a steward in the Methodist church in Verona and for ten years was the superintendent of the Sunday school. On December 27th, 1893 Mr. Seawright was married to Miss Lucy Kilpatrick of Verona. From this union two children, Charlie and Theo were born. The former volunteered for service in the World War, but on account of his delicate constitution he was rejected. Three times he made the effort to get into the army and was finally accepted and en route with his command to Europe, died on the transport. The death of his son was too great a shock and grief for Mr. Seawright and from that time he began to fail and was never his former self. The funeral services were conducted from the residence Monday afternoon by his pastor, Rev. Hall and a former pastor, Rev. Brown who paid the high tribute to the life and character of the deceased. Many beautiful floral offerings were sent by friends. Interment took place in Verona where many friends gathered to pay their last tribute of respect. The family have the sympathy of all in their sorrow.
