	H. R. SMITHEY DIES AT HOSPITAL
	-------
  Mr. H. R Smithey died at the Tupelo Hospital Monday morning from the effects 
of gas bacillus.  He was out fishing Thursday night with his family on a little 
creek near his home three miles east of Guntown.  He accidentally shot himself 
in the leg below the knee and blood poisoning soon developed.  He was brought 
to the hospital and it was found advisable to amputate his leg but his 
condition was such that death followed the next day.  The remains were taken 
back home for burial.
