Mr. May, 72, died April 24, 1995, of heart failure at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in McComb on May 2, 1922, to the late W.L. and Mary Vera Newton May. He was a retired carpenter and a WWII Army veteran. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Gertrude Powell May of Monticello; his sons, Robert May of Livingston, Ala., Danny May of Central, La., and Steve May of Bossier City, La.; his daughter, Elizabeth Harris of Bossier City, La., his stepdaughter, Christine Wallace of Silver Creek; his brother, Jerry May of Jackson; his sisters, Willie Mae Blacksher and Jean McCullough, both of Summit, and Shirley Ann Alexander of Avondale, La.; and a number of grandchildren.
