William was from Brunswick Co., Virginia and Martha was born in Edgefield District, South Carolina. James first married Bettie Wyatt. She died in 1881 and is buried at Spring Ridge Methodist cemetery in Raymond, Mississippi. He married Sarah E. McGowen of Hinds Co., Mississippi about 1883. She was the daughter of John Wesley McGowen and Mary Elizabeth Toole. James was a Methodist minister and came to Lincoln Co. in 1903. The 1841 birth date for James is incorrect and should read 1851. This is according to several U.S. Census documents and family bible information.
