Deacon Zack (Zacharias) R. Wicks, Jr. was born in 1911 to the union of the 
late Rev. Zack Wicks, Sr. and the late Ella Tucker Wicks. He departed this 
life on Sunday, October 30,1977 in the Golden Triangle Regional Medial Center 
in Columbus, MS.

Deacon Zack Wicks, Jr. was a life long citizen of Lowndes County, where he 
dedicated his life to service of the people of this community.

At an early age, he joined the New Zion Baptist Church where he remained and 
served faithfully until his death.  He was also frequently found in the 
services of many churches throughout his community.

On December 24,1931, he united in Holy Matrimony with Miss Eliza Sykes of 
Columbus, MS. To this marriage, two children were born-both of who, were at 
his bedside at the time of his death.

He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Mrs. Mary Sykes Wicks of 
Columbus; one son, John Travis Wicks; one daughter, Mrs Mary Wicks Warfield of 
Chicago, IL. a daughter and son in law and three grandsons all of Chicago, IL.
In addition, he leaves one sister. six brothers and a host of other relatives 
and friends.

Service - New Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS  Rev D.C. Wicks, Officating 
Pastor

Interment - Wicks Memorial Gardens Artesia, MS
