Copied from inventories given to Canton Library, Madison Co., Miss. and are on file there. On a little hill there is a great deal of evidence of what must have been an elaborate family burial ground. There are remains of bricked graves (and also quantities of Indian flint chips, evidence of the Indians having been here first). Records show that Hardin D. Runnels, a brother of Hiram G. Runnels who was a govenor of Mississippi, died in January, 1830. All that remains to recall his memory is the little foot stone, now fallen down the hill into the deep sand below.
