Moore respectfully represents that his father James Moore lately departed this life intestate and possessed of considerable estate of about seven thousand dollars in value, and leaving a widow Sarah Moore, and your petitioner and several other children his heirs & legal representatives, that the said widow has waived the right of administration on said estate. Your petitioner therefore prays that administration may be granted to him according to law and that the following persons duly qualified & not interested in the administration may be appointed appraisers of said estate, viz.: Lewis Finley, Thomas O. McDonald and Samuel Duffel, and your petitioner offers to the Court the following persons as his sureties on his administration bond trust William G. Crump and A. H. Handy. /s/ J. E. SE 1/4, W, 1/2, NE1/4, E1/2, NE 1/4 Sec 12; S 1/2, E 1/2, SE1/4 Sec 11; S1/2, W1/2 SW 1/45 Sec 11 T. 8 R. 3 East. Said commissioners to report to the next term of this court. Herein fail not and have then there this met. Witness: William S. Bailey, Judge of Probate of said county, the 4th Monday of February 1840, Seal of said court. Issued the 26th February 1840 6) To the honorable the Judge of Probate of Madison County. The petition of Charles Moore, one of the children and heirs of James Moore late of said county decd respectfully represents that James E. Moore, the administrator of the estate of said James Moore decd, appointed by this court has recently removed part of the negro property of plantation beyond the limits of this state and your petitioner is apprehensive that he will remove the residue of the negroes belonging to the said estate beyond the limits of this state with a design to defraud the heirs of said estate: that said administrator has also removed himself beyond the limits of this state and as your petitioner believes with an intention to reside permanently in another state: wherefore your petitioner prays that a precept may be opened this court to the sheriff of said county commanding the said sheriff forthwith to seize the estate about to be so removed and to dispossess said administrator thereof; and further that this court may revoke the letter of administration granted by this court to said administrator and commit the administration of said estate to your petitioner according to the act in such case made and provided. Personally appeared in open court the above named Charles Moore and making oath on the Holy Evangel of Almighty God, that the facts stated the above petition are true to the best of his knowledge and belief. Bailey, Judge of Probate 7) The annual settlement of Charles Moore adm de bonis non of James Moore decd rendered to the March Term 1841 of Madison Probate Court The adm begs to have to state to the court that all the debts due from said estate have been paid off and the property (after alloting to the widow her dower) has been divided amongst the legatees who are all of age. The State of Mississippi/Madison County: Personally appeared in open court Charles Moore adm de bonis non of James Moore decd who being duly sworn deposed and said that the foregoing account as stated is in all things just and true.
