Will of David Bailey Will Book A, page 4, dated 1-21-1831 The State of Mississippi, Madison County} 21st day of January, 1831 In the name of God amen. I David Bailey of the County and State aforesaid being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and declare this my last will and testament revoking all others heretofore made in manner and form following to wit. 1st I resign my soul into the hands of almighty God hoping and believing in a remission of my sins by the merit of Jesus Christ and my body I commend to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my executors or executor hereinafter mentioned and my worldly estate which has pleased almighty God to bless me in accumulating I give and devise as follows. 1st I give and devise to my beloved and affectionate wife Mary Bailey of the county and state aforesaid all my lands and tenements in the county and state aforesaid, all my negroes namely Ann, Sarah, Jack, Andy, Peter, Tami, Dibs, Lucy, Tom, Sara and Nancy, also all my horses, cattle, hogs and sheep. Also all my household and kitchen furniture, also all my farming utensils for her the said Mary Bailey to have and to hold during her natural life and at her death to dispose of a negro girl Sarah at her will and pleasure the other property above stated, to be disposed of as follows, to wit equally divided between my beloved sisters and brothers namely Mary Luster, Cleinnard [?], Milly Bailey, Jesse Bailey and James Bailey at the same time reserving a sufficient support for my father, mother and family during their lifetimes, also the named or decreed to be as above stated. 2nd I wish and request the Orphan’s Court of said county to appoint my wife Mary Bailey executor and Augustus Halsey [?] executor to the ____ the assign of this my last will and testament into effect, given under my hand and seal this 21st day January, 1831 in the presence of A. Walker, C. M. Hubert and Bennett R.
