Will of Elizabeth Gantt, Madison Co., MS, Will Book A I, Elizabeth Gantt being of sound mind and memory though weak and afflicted in body being disposed to make a testamentary of my estate ___ my children and grandchildren __ this my last will and testament in the manner following. Imprimus, I give my and bequeath to my son Kinhelm [?] Foreman Maddact [?] Gantt one fourth part of the tract of land where I now reside & the Negroes Charles & Nancy; also one of the ___; also __ one sixth part of the plantation tools and one sixth part of my household furniture. My will and desire is that my daughter Letty Ann Massey shall take __ of her unfortunate brother Kinhelm and his property and at his death that my said son’s property shall remain with my said daughter Letty during her life. And at her death the said property with the increase shall be equally divided among my children. I also give and bequeath __ __and property to my said son Kinhelm which is to be deducted out of his one sixth part of the household furniture. And in case of the death of my said daughter Letty before the death of my son Kinhelm, my desire is that the property __ devised to my son Kinhelm should be delivered into the care of my daughter Cecilia Caroline Primo for the use and benefit of my said son, and that my said son shall live with my said daughter Cecilia & I earnestly hope that he will receive a sister’s kindness at her hands, and provided my son shall have no children (of his body legally begotten) my will and desire is that all the property hereby divided to my said son Kinhelm shall be equally divided among my children at his death. Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Letty __ __ the Negroes Cate, Cloe & Julia also one sixth part of my stock, one sixth part of my plantation tools and one sixth part of my household furniture & in case my said daughter Letty should die without lawful heirs of her body begotten my will and desire is that the property hereby bequeathed to her shall be equally divided among my children. Item. I will and devise to my son George Gantt one fourth part of my land and the Negroes Sandy and Louisa also one sixth part of my of my plantation tools and household furniture and one sixth part of my stock, and in case my said son George should die leaving no heirs of his body begotten, my will is that the property hereby bequeathed to him shall be equally divided among my children. Item. I will and devise to my daughter Rebecca Clagett the first of the children of Nancy, a slave; the wife of Charles which shall be born alive after the date of this will. Item. I give to my grand daughter Elizabeth Stoddart Hicks a Negro girl named Jenny and in case the said Elizabeth should die before she arrives at __ __________________ . Item. I give to my grandson __ H. Perry Primo the Negro boy Lander and if my grandson the said __ H.
