Will of Alfred Galloway Will Book A, page 314 Last Will of Alfred Galloway In the Name of God amen. I, Alfred Gallway of Madison County in the State of Mississippi, being at the time in good health and of sound and perfect mind and memory but calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die do make and publish this as my last will and testament. For manner and form following Revoking all others previously made. First of all I desire that all my just debts be paid to this end I desire that all my chattel property of every kind and description be sold. Secondly I desire that my son George have the sum of two hundred dollars as a reward in past for his faithfull service rendered me on the farm and an eight-of land. The western most eight of three-eights which I now own in Pearl River bottom. In case my wife Louisa thinks proper to lay her dower on said eight of land in that case it is my wish and desire that the sum granted to my son George be four hundred dollars instead of two hundred for my sole object in specifying this sum to my son George is to do him justice and not to give him an advantage over his brothers or my wife Louisa. Beside the land and money before mentioned , I desire that he share equal with my wife Louisa and his brothers Charles and James share and share alike. Lastly I make and appoint my three sons Charles, James and George my executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this sixth day of February 1856. Witness: J. H. McKie /s/ A. Galoway State of Mississippi, Madison County} In the matter of a certain instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Alfred Galloway deceased. Be it remembered that at a term of the Probate Court of Madison County State aforesaid began and held at the Court House in the City of Canton in the County and State aforesaid on the second Monday of Feb’y personally J. H. McKie subscribing witness to a certain instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Alfred Galloway he being duly sworn deposed and said that said Alfred Galloway wrote signed sealed and published the said instrument as his last will and testament - in his presence on the day of the date hereof. That said testator was at that time of sound and disposing mind and that the testator was at the time a resident of Madison County, that he signed said will testament as witness at the instance and request of said testator. Therefore it is ordered adjudged and decreed that the foregoing will be and the same is hereby established as the last will and testament of the said Alfred Galloway deceased and it further appearing that the whole estate to be administered upon is about fifteen hundred dollars. It is further ordered that the executors nominated in said will be required to give bond in the sum of two thousand dollars with W. E. Dancy & M. L. Dinkins as surities.
