Will of Hugh M. Simpson Book A, page 19 In the name of God, Amen. I, Hugh M. Simpson of the County of Hardiman and state of Tennessee being weak in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament. Item first - It is my will that that all my just debts be paid. Item 2 - I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah Simpson all my property wherewith it has pleased God to bless me to hold by her and at her disposal during her life or widowhood. Item 3 - I will and bequeath my Sarah Simpson should she marry again an equal share of my property that is that the property shall be equally divided amongst her and each of my children share and share alike. Item 4 - I do hereby nominate and appoint my beloved wife Sarah Simpson and my brother James Simpson executors of this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 4th day of December, 1831. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Richmond Carrot. /s/ Hugh M. Hardiman clerk of the County Court of said county do hereby certify that at a court being in and held for said county at the court house in the town of Bolivar on the first Monday of January AD 1832, present William Polk, chairman and the other justices of said county among the other things the following is among the proceedings of said court (to wit) the last will and testament of Hugh M. Simpson dec'd was produced in open court for probate and the execution of the same by the testator proven by the oaths of Richmond Carrot and Justus Lake subscribing witnesses thereto and the same was ordered to be recorded - and I do further certify that the foregoing copy from the original filed is in my office.
