Mississippian Uses Ax and Knife in Attempt to Murder and Suicide

Potts Camp, Miss., July 31.-After splitting his wife's head open with an ax, Durad 
Pinkston attempted suicide by cutting his own throat from ear to ear, with a 
knife, this morning at their home at Eagle Springs, near here. The cause of the 
trouble is not known. It is thought that both will die.

Pinkston was reared here and went West some time ago. His wife is a native of 
Woodland, Tex., where he married her. A few months ago he returned here to make 
his home, and his wife followed, arriving several days ago.
