Obituary

Died at Holly Springs, Miss., on the 4th of July, Miss Sarah E. Darnall, aged 
28 years.

The deceased lady, was for some years, a resident of Clarksville, and had 
lately gone to Mississippi, in the hope that change of climate, and travelling 
would loosen the iron grasp of a mortal disease, which for years had had the 
weight of its heavy hand upon her. But vain the expectation. The destroyer but 
dallied with his victim, allowing the sunshine of hope occasionally to light 
up the despondency of disease.

Miss Darnall will long be remembered in this community, by many friends whom 
free social intercourse had endeared her to, and who sympathize sincerely in 
the sorrow which her death brings upon the family circle here.

The deceased however, was not one of those, to whom death comes as a grim 
destroyer, demanding a terrified victim; but in the fullness of a faith in the 
Redeemer which was sincere and long cherished, passed away to the world of 
spirits, cheerful, hopeful, undoubting. To her sinking frame and glazing eye, 
with a mind unweakened to the last, the world of the future was a round of 
pleasure, confidently anticipated, when in the beneficence of her Saviour's 
love, she should live again, a life free of care, and aching pains, blessed 
beyond the imaginings of this world. The last rites of the Church were 
administered to her before her departure, and she passed on to the other life, 
prepared.
