The funeral will take place at 7:30 a m today from the residence, conducted by Rev. O S Barten, D D , rector of Christ Episcopal Church. The remains will be forwarded to Hertford, N C,       General Borland and his family had been spending the summer in Virginia, and were about to return to New Orleans. He had been in delicate health for several months, but was supposed to be improving until about a week ago. General Borland, though a resident of New Orleans, was well known in Virginia, his father's family [Godwin] being residents of Nansemond county. The deceased entered the Confederate army as a boy, and from the ranks rose to the command of Company E, of the Sixth Virginia Infantry, Mahone's Brigade. He was a man of conspicuous courage, and as Captain of his company he participated in nearly all the engagements with that historic brigade, whose achievements and fame were not eclipsed by those of any military organization of the Confederacy. He was thrice wounded.       After the war he settled in Louisiana, and became prominent in military, social, and political circles. At the time of his death he was Brigadier General of the Louisiana State National Guard and Treasurer of the city of New Orleans. Additional Comments: Thomas R and General Euclid BORLAND were born a month and 1000 miles apart, orphaned within five years of each other, both raised by George & Fanny GODWIN in Suffolk with Miss Betsy, both faught in Civil War, both wounded, both attended Univ of Virginia and went to Europe together, and were very close first cousins.       General Borland was born 7 February 1844 in Marshall county, Mississippi to Dr Euclid and Martha R (Moore) BORLAND, moving to Plaquemines Parish (near where Empire now is) ca 1847, served, wounded and beczme a Captain in Civil War, schooled at U of Virginia, trips to Europe in 1867 & 68, married Charlotte Willcox McCall, she died 1885, both are buried Ramsey cemetery, Hertford county, NC.       His death left two orphaned daughters, both buried, 1937 & 1938, in Metairie cemetery. Olyve born 28 August 1875, 30 March 1897 married Henry Miller Gill, second librarian for New Orleans, had three children and Elizabeth born 15 January 1877, lived with sister until married St Clair Adams, in 2 May 1902, once City Attorney, had four children.       General Euclid's uncle was Solon Borland, M D, former U S Senator (1848-1853), of Arkansas, Minister To Nicaragua, Major, Mexican-American War, Colonel CSA.
