Will of James Alston, Marshall Co. MS James Alston ) State of Mississippi , Marshall County Will ) I James Alston being an old man and weak in boddy but sound in mind and Knowing that all men must die, do make this my last will and testament. I first bequeath my soul to God it being the only good part I have, I then give unto my Ten eldest children ten dollars in addition to what I have already given them together with my love and blessing. I than bequeath to my daughter Ann Bartonte(?) and her two children Willis and William the west half of Section thirteen Township Six and Range four West and a Small white House in the Town of Wyatt adjoining a large barn owned by Sryas Silry a negro woman and her four children, Sam, Maria and Lucy, belongs to her and her children, And to my son Willis I give and bequeath a certain negro woman by the name of Susan and one half my plantation section and he is to have one hundred and Twenty dollars per year untill a sufficient amount can be made to purchase him a likely negro man at which time he is to have possession of above man and Land. And to my son Henry I give and bequeath the other half of my plantation to take possession at the same time that Willis is put in possession of his part together with certain negro boys by the name of Red and Jim his brother. I then set aside the ballance of all my town property in the town of Wyatt and a half section and I own with my son Philip Alston to pay my just debts to be sold by my executors my sons Philip and James Alston Who I do appoint as my executors. The balance of my property I give to my belove wife during her lifetime and at her death to be equally divided between my sons Willis and Henry Alston except a negro girl named Hanner who she is to disposes of as she thinks proper.
