Deed - Joseph Fowlkes Deed to John Hill Transcribed & submitted by Lori Thornton March 2002 Monroe County, Mississippi Deed Record 7, p. 175 Joseph Fowllks} This Indenture made and entered into Deed To } this 28th day of May in the Year of John Hill } our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and Twenty Eight between Joseph Foulks of the county of Monroe and State of Mississippi of the one part and John Hill of the county & state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth as follows that the said Joseph Foulks as aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred and seventy five dollars to him in hand paid by the said John Hill the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath this day sold and conveyed to the said John Hill a certain tract or parcel of land being the E 1/2 of the south E quarter of Section Eighteen of Township thirteen South in Range Eighteen West in the District of the Choctaw and State & County aforesaid containing Eighty three acres and eighty four hundredths of an acre the aforesaid land and bargain premises the said Joseph Foulks Will Warrant in fee simple and forever defend unto the said John Hill his Heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever against myself my Heirs Executors administrators &c & all and singular the rights titles claims and Interest of all and every other person whatsoever as witness my hand & seal this day & date above written. Pickens an acting Justice of the peace in and for said county of Monroe and acknowledged the signing and seal and delivery of the within deed of conveyance to the said John Hill and the contents of the same to be good and valid in every way therein specified given under my hand this 28th May 1828. R. B. Pickens [Deed] The State of Mississippi} Personally appeared this day Monroe County } Eliz. Foulks wife of Joseph Foulks before me Robert B. Pickens an acting Justice of the peace in and for said county of Monroe and was personally examined by said Justice and apart from her husband and then acknowledged that she signed sealed and delivered the within deed of conveyance to John Hill her voluntary act and deed fully without any fear threat of compulsion of her husband and the contents to be good and valid in ___ of her relinquishment to the same.
