Joseph Foulks } This Indenture made this Eighteenth day To } of January Eighteen Hundred and thirty- Mark Prewett } Seven between Joseph Foulks of the County of Monroe and State of Mississippi of the one part and Mark Prewett of the same County and State of the other part. Witnesseth that the Said Joseph Foulks for and in consideration of the sum of one Thousand dollars in hand paid the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold aliened confirmed and confirmed [sic] and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto the said Mark Prewett his heirs and assigns forever all those tracts or parcels of land lying and being in the County of Monroe & State of Mississippi and Known as the east half of the of the [sic] North West quarter & the north half of the West half of the north west quarter & the north half of the west half of the north east quarter & the north half of the east half of the south west quarter of section Eighteen of Township Thirteen of Range Eighteen West containing Two Hundred Acres more or less and appurtanances and all the estate right title interest property and claim of him the said Joseph Foulks of in and to the same. To have and to hold the lands hereby conveyed with all and singular the premises and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtanances unto the said Mark Prewett his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Joseph Foulks for his heirs executors and administrators doth covenant promise and agree to and with the said Mark Prewett his heirs and assigns by these presents that the premises before mentioned now are and forever hereafter shall remain free from all former and other gifts grants bargains sales charges and incumbrances whatsoever from him the said Joseph Foulks and his heirs and assigns and the said Joseph Foulks his heirs executors and administrators all and singular the premises hereby bargained and sold with the appurtanances unto the said Mark Prewett his heirs and assigns against the said Joseph Foulkes and his heirs and all and every other person or persons whatsoever doth and will warrant and forever deferred by these presents. In witness whereof the said Joseph Foulks hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written. Monroe County } Vaughan an acting Justice of the peace in and for said county Joseph Foulks who acknowledged that he signed sealed and delivered the foregoing deed of Conveyance as his act and deed the day and year above written also Elizabeth Foulkes wife of said Foulks Who being examined privately from her said husband acknowledged that she Signed sealed and delivered the foregoing deed of conveyance as her relinquishment of dower freely and of her own consent without fear threats or compulsion of her said husband.
