Indenture made April 15, 1848 between Hatch Whitfield of the County of 
Monroe and state of Mississippi on the one part and Benjamin Herring 
Administrator of James Herring dec'd of Wayne County, NC on the other part. 
Witnesseth the in consideration of $293.62 paid by Benjamin Herring 
Administrator is hereby fully acknowledged and further consideration of 
$195.75 paid by James Herring Jr. dec'd to William A Whitfield for said land 
on 12 Jul 1842 do convey unto the said Benjamin Herring land in Wayne on the 
Horse Pen pocoson near the head of the Indian Spring Branch adjacent to 
Simon Price's corner, said Herring's corner, corner of Joel Herring dec'd 
and containing 195 2/3 acres.
Witnesses: A W Barwick and Laban W Lewis
