Morehead, of El Paso, Texas, who passed away Feb, 18th at the age of 87. As Mary Harrison Gates, whe was born Nov. 23, 1855 in Aberdeen, Miss., she was the daughter of Susan Elizabeth Ragsdale and Charles Franklin Gates. Her great grand-father, Charles Gates is buried at Okolona, Miss., and her other great grand-father, Henry Greer, had the honor of having his home used as the place where Monroe County was formed in 1821. this old home stood near the present U.S. 45 Bridge across the Buttahatchie. It was in the present Lowndes county, and is a part of the Flying School area. Mrs. Morehead's grandfather, Daniel Ragsdale and his wife, Nancy Haynes Greer(Ragsdale) were pioneer settlers of Aberdeen as were her other grandparents, Charles Gates, Jr. and his wife Rose Reed Gates.
