The Last Will and Testament of Joseph Fowlkes Transcribed and submitted by Lori Thornton 24 March 2002 Monroe County, Mississippi Will Record 1 (1836-1851), pp. 158-159 The Last Will & Testament of Joseph Fowlkes State of Mississippi} The last will and Testament Monroe County} of Joseph Fowlkes deceased late of said county as delivered to us the undersigned by him about the tenth day of August last. 1st My will is that all my just debts be paid out of my estate. I then wish all my property both real and personal kept together by my son John E. Fowlkes for the benefit of my wife and children after they have derived a comfortable support from the proceeds of the same that he shall have the balance of the proceeds for his attention, the property to remain under his direction so long as he shall continue study and not spend any part of the same as it may be thought to the best interest of my wife and children to divide the property, then I wish it to be divided equally between my wife and children share and share alike.
