Dowdle "Ms. Charlie" age 87 passed away February 20, 2021 in Spanish Fort, Alabama with her three children by her bedside. Born in Union, MS on April 23, 1933 to Carl and Betty V Turner. Ms. Charlie eloped and married her high school basketball referee Johnnie B. Dowdle on October 18, 1950. Her High School basketball team nicknamed her legs. She raised three children, resided in Spanish Fort for 57 years, and attended First Baptist Church of Spanish Fort. Ms. Charlie was an energetic community supporter and strong advocate for her children. She had a contagious laugh and everyone who met her-loved her. She had many friends who loved being around her and she will be missed. Proceeded in death, husband Johnnie B Dowdle and grandson Adam Davis She leaves behind her 3 children Tanya (Tamie) Thames, Denise (Don) Davis and John (Annette) Dowdle. Grandchildren are Shelly Davis, Kelly Hicks, Seth (Emily) Davis, Cole Dowdle, Katelyn Dowdle, Jackson Dowdle, Ashley Thames and Mandy (Clay) Lanham. Great grandchildren Henry and Caroline Lanham and Landon Hicks. Her loving sister Christine Gilmore and many nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 11:00am at the Daphne chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Alabama State Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort. In lieu of flowers she requested donations to First Baptist Church of Spanish Fort. We would like to give special thanks to her caregiver Casandra Wiggins, also to Comfort Care Hospice who provided much care and information for us to care for our mom.
