William Bailey biography, Union County & Pontotoc County, MS Date: Fri Nov 6 10:30:20 1998 Name: James Lee Bailey Email: County: Union William Alford and Luvicey Bailey came to what was then Pontotoc County, Mississippi in 1854 to 1856. Alford and Luvicy were probably second cousins when they married. It appears that Alford's grandfather was Zachariah Bailey and Luvicey's father, James were brothers, sons of William Bailey who claimned land in what is now Laurens County, S.C. in 1767. About the same time that Alford Bailey and his family came to Mississippi many other Bailey family members came. Alford had a brother, Henry Holcomb Bailey and a sister, Cynthia, who was to a Crumpton who came as well as nieces, nephews, and possibly several cousins. Dues to the fact that so many of the family members had the same names it is some times hard to connect the familys together in a n orderly way. many family members are buried in the Wallerville Cemetary, southeast of New Albany, Mississippi. Others are buried south of New Albany in Wilkins Cemetary. ====================================================================      USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing          free information on the Internet, data may be used by          non-commercial entities, as long as this message          remains on all copied material.
