The Weekly Constitution, Atlanta, Ga. March 30, 1903
Jackson, Miss., March 24. -- A negro named Doc Smith shot and killed Officer 
Blackwell and wounded Deputy Matthew Curry, at Greenville, Miss., last night.

The two officers had attempted to arrest Smith, who killed a white man at 
Junnison last Sunday.

Possees are in pursuit of the negrto.  All the negroes in the neighborhood are 
quiet.
