Denson To Michael Vanderhurst and Johnson Silverberg State of Mississippi Scott County This Indenture made and entered into the 9th day of August Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and thirty Eight between S. J. Denson President of the Board of Police for said County of the first part, and Michael Vanderhurst & Johnson Silverberg of the County of Madison and State aforesaid, of the second part, Witnesseth; That for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and thirty Dollars to me in hand paid (as President of the Board of Police of the County of Scott) by said Michael Vanderhurst & Johnson Silverberg at and before the signing & sealing of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed, and confirmed and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoffs and confirm unto the said Michael Vanderhurst and Johnson Silverberg and to their heirs & assigns forever all the right title and Interest vested in the Board of County Police of the County of Scott to One Lot, Piece or parcel of Land situate lying and being in town of Hillsborough in the County of Scott known and distinguished in the plat of said town as Lot No. 4 in square No. 4. Containing One hundred and forty feet square more or less. – To Have and to Hold unto them the said Michael Vanderhurst & Johnson Silverberg their Heirs and assigns forever, all and singular said Parcel of Land and its appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining. And I S.J. Denson, as President of the Board of Police bind myself and my successors in office to forever Warrant and defend all and singular the said Lot or tract of Land unto the said Michael Vanderhurst and Johnson Silverberg their Heirs and assigns forever agains the claim or claims of all and every person or persons Lawfully claiming the same.
