Pettey & Noah Lawhorn This Indenture made and entered into the 28th day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred & Thirty Eight, between William Chambers and Tariba Chambers his wife of the first part, and Thomas M Pettey & Noah Lawhorn, all of the County of Scott and State of Mississippi of the other part. Witnesseth. That the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of seventy five Dollars to them in hand paid by the said parties of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted bargained sold, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, convey, and confirm, unto the said parties of the second part, that certain Lot piece or parcel of Land, situate lying and being in the county and State aforesaid, and Known and designated as follows, first, beginning at a Stake in the East side of Pearl Street, bounded South by the Northern boundary of the Town of Hillsboro Thence due East, ninety nine feet, to a stake from thence due North twenty six Rods and seventeen links, to a stake thence west ninety nine feet to a Stake and thence South Twenty six Rods and seventeen links to the beginning. Containing one acre of Land together with all and singular the hereditaments privileges & appurtenances there unto belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold unto the said parties of the second part their heirs and assigns forever. And the said parties of the first part, for themselves, their heirs, executors and administrators unto the said parties of the second part, their heirs and assigns, against themselves their heirs, executors and administrators, and all and every person and persons whatsoever claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof, do by these presents warrant and will forever defend. In testimony whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written.
