Jones Clk This Indenture made and entered into on this the second day of July AD 1856 by and between John L Gill and Martha Ann Gill his wife of the first part and E. Rush Buckner of the second part, all of the County of Scott & State of Mississippi. Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars cash in hand to us paid by the said party of the second part, and for other valuable considerations at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and convey and confirm unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever the following described piece of land situate lying and being in the county aforesaid & known as follows. The South East quarter of the South West quarter of Section number Ten in Township number five north of Range number six East containing forty acres and twelve hundredths of an acre together with all and singular the tenements hereditements & appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining and also all the right title and interest and dower either in possession or expectancy which the said parties of the first part have in and to the same, the title whereof they hereby covenant and warrant to defend unto the said party of the second part his heirs executors & assigns forever both in law and equity. Gill her Martha Ann X Gill mark The State of Mississippi Scott County Personally came before me the undersigned acting Justice of the Peace within and for said County (Joseph S Bishop) John L Gill and his wife Martha Ann Gill who severally acknowledged that they and each of them severally signed sealed and delivered the within deed on the day and year therein mentioned and for the puprposes therein contained and the said Martha Ann on a separate andd private examination apart from her said husband acknowledged that she voluntarily signed sealed and delivered the same for the purposes therein mentioned and in full relinquishment of all dower interest without any fear threat or compulsion from her said husband.
