Gatewood President of the Board of Police in and for the County of Scott in the State of Mississippi of the first part and Alfred Eastland of the County and State aforesaid of the second part, Witnesseth; That for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars to me in hand paid (as President of the Board of Police aforesaid) by the said Alfred Eastland at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereby is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, sold, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell convey and confirm unto the said Alfred Eastland and to his heirs and assigns forever all the right, title, claim and interest, in and to the following Lots, pieces, or parcels of land lying and being situate in the Town of Hillsboro in the said County of Scott, to wit; Lot number four, in square number one, measuring on hundred and forty feet, front, on Washington Street by ninety nine feet back Also Lot Number six in Square Number three, measuring ninety nine feet front on the Public square, and one hundred and forty feet back, and also Lots numbered nine and ten in square number eight, measuring one hundred and forty feet square, each according to the plat of said Town – To have and to hold the same unto him the said Alfred Eastland, his heirs and assigns forever; together with all and singular the hereditaments, privileges and appurtenances, thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining - And I the said William A. Gatewood (as President of the Board of Police aforesaid) do hereby bind myself and my successors in office in office to forever warrant and defend all and singular the rights, titles, claim and interest in and to the above described Lots, pieces or parcels of land unto the said Alfred Eastland and to his heirs and assigns forever against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part or parcel thereof --- In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal as President of the Board of Police aforesaid on the day and year first above written. William A. Gatewood President of the Board of Police In and for Scott County The State of Mississippi Scott County Personally appeared before me James J. Chambers Clerk of the Circuit Court in and for the County and State aforesaid William A. Gatewood President of the Board of Police in and for said County, who acknowledged that he signed, sealed, and delivered the within and foregoing Deed on the day and year, and for the uses and purposes therein mentioned, as his official act and deed.
