Reid rreid21@cox.net June 12, 2004, 5:23 pm Parts of Section 17, 20 & 21 in T8 R7E, Scott Co., MS Written: March 1 1848 Recorded: May 5 1848 Benj S Ricks Filed for record this 5th day of May A.D. 1848 To A Eastland Clerk Solomon Lowry This Indenture made and entered into this the first day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & forty eight between Benj S Ricks and Eliza A Ricks his wife of Madison County and State of Mississippi of the first part and Solomon Lowry of Scott County and aforesaid State of the second part – Witnesseth – That the said Benj S. Ricks and Eliza A Ricks for and in consideration of the sum of Five hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said Solomon Lowry at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have this day granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto said Solomon Lowry and to his heirs and assigns forever all their right title claim and interest in the following described land situate lying and being in the County of Scott and State of Mississippi known and designated as the South half of the East half of the South East quarter of section seventeen the East half of the North East quarter section twenty and the West half of the North West section Twenty one all in Township eight and Range Seven East containing Two hundred acres being the same more or less together with all and singular the premises and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in wise appertaining to have and to hold to the said Solomon Lowry, and to his heirs and assigns all the foregoing described land and premises in fee Simple forever. And the said Benj S Ricks and Eliza A Ricks his wife for themselves their heirs executors and administrators by these presents covenant promise and agree to and with the said Solomon Lowry his heirs, executors and administrators, that they will and their heirs executors and administrators ahll forever warrant and defend the title to said granted land and premises against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whomsoever both at law and equity. In testimony whereof the said Benj S Ricks and Eliza A Ricks his wife hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written Benj S Ricks Eliza A Ricks State of Mississippi Personally appeared before the undersigned Justice of the Madison County and Notary Public ExOfficio of said County the above named Benj S Ricks who acknowledges that he signed sealed and delivered the foregoing Deed on the day and year therein mentioned as his act and deed Given under my hand this 24th March 1848 B F Crowell JP Exofficio Notary Public The State of Mississippi Madison County Personally appeared before me Justice of the Peace of said County Eliza A Ricks wife of the within named Benj S Ricks and being by me examined separate and apart from his said husband acknowledged that she signed, sealed and delivered the within Deed as her voluntary act and did freely and of her own accord without the fear threats or compulsion of her husband in the day and year and for the purposes therein specified.
