Whitehead of the County of Scott and State of Mississippi in and for consideration of the sum of one Dollar to us in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and for the further consideration of the advantages that will result to us by the construction of the Southern Rail Road do by these presents give grant bargain sell and convey unto the Southern Rail Road Company Charterea by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi the right of way for the track of said Road together with a space of fifty feet on each side of the center line thereof through our land to wit: the W1/2 of the NE1/4 of Section 24 in Township 6 Range 6 East lying and being in the County of Scott and State aforesaid together with the uses of rock gravel timber or any other material necessary for making or repairing said Road which may be on the line of said Road granting unto the said Southern Rail Road Company a quit claim to the same for the uses and purposes aforesaid. In testimony whereof witness our hands and seals this 11th day of May AD 1858 Signed sealed and delivered Wm Whitehead In presence of Elizabeth A. Whitehead Chas Vosburg State of Mississippi Scott County Personally appeared before me Joseph S Bishop and acting Justice of the Peace in and for said County Wm Whitehead who acknowledged that he signed sealed and delivered the foregoing Deed as voluntary act and deed on the day and date and for the purposes therein specified also on the same day personally appeared before me Elizabeth A. Whitehead who being examined separate and apart from her said husband acknowledged that she signed sealed and delivered the foregoing deed as her own voluntary act and deed on the day and date and for the purposes therein specified – Without any fear threats or compulsion of her said husband In testimony whereof witness my hand and seal this 11th day of May AD 1858.
